Guess what? The mower I had serviced a month and a bit ago is busted. Good job, buddy. Can't reach them by phone, either, so have to use email. At least we are into a dry summer so grass only needs doing every 2-3 weeks so I have some time. Got it done yesterday and it barfed at the end.

All that being said, Sam Raimi is great.

Which is why I have kind of opted out on the MCU after watching (and generally enjoying) some of the early ones. Last one I saw was Captain Marvel but due to the setting being pre-Iron Man et al., it actually held up well on its own.

I did enjoy Raimi's Spiderman but my favorite Raimi superhero movie is still Darkman. Admittedly, it's "street level" vigilante superhero rather than Avengers-level but I kind of prefer those anyhow. Some of the more grounded Batman stories like Year One are faves, too.

No network issues today, just busy. Coffee is belatedly made and there is some nice David's Breakfast (house brand of a Canadian loose leaf tea chain) in the teapot. Iced tea is made for those like me who are facing a steamy day (31C forecast high here, but there is a breeze).

The album that really cemented my love of Kate Bush (I've been a fan since my teens) was Hounds of Love. So I was delighted when the lead-off single from that album came back to life this year (thank you, Stranger Things) and charted even better than on first release.

The government was down, too, but what else is new on a Friday in the Summer.😜 Things seem to be back to normal, though my on-call IT tech is still seeing issues.

Welp, one of Canada's largest TV, Internet, and telecommunications providers is down in a big way. Wireless, wired, home, corporate, you name it, it is probably down. I had to come in to the office on a day when I planned to work from home because of it. For those in the know, it's Rogers and this is not their first time. 😠

Coffee is ready. There's Guangdong Milk Oolong and Orange Pekoe (Red Rose) in the teapots. Iced tea and lemonade are made up nice and fresh for those needing a cold drink.

Unfortunately, we had to put down one of our fifteen-year-old cats, and it left me devastated even though it was not unexpected. I think it was just because I had been teetering on the edge. It is kind of grey out here but the chance of rain is low and the sun is supposed to show itself later.

Coffee today is a dark roast from Costa Rica. Teas are Earl Grey and Irish Breakfast. Iced tea is in the fridge for when things warm up later.

So my writing, even the work on sprucing up Tana's stories, has kind of ground to a halt. It's my mood ultimately, but there is also a bit of a "I just don't know what to write at the moment" feeling.

Kind of grey and rainy so far today and, the forecast says, until dinner time. Oh well, I'm just working in my home office. Just means I get a bit glum when I look out the window.

One of the calls this month is for Shakespearean horror stories and Shakespearean sonnets on horror themes. There's lots of other interesting themes and topics, too. Some are due soon, some stretch out across the summer. Some could be writing prompts even if you aren't going to submit.
