1) email me your word or Google doc of your story to

2) subject line either "Second Chances" or "Dark Matter" for your do-over entry or spooky comp entry. If in both comps, send 2 separate emails (these are titles for now until we can discuss options)

Can I turn my google doc into a pdf to send to you?

Just send her a share link. That's what I did.

yeah, I don't want to share access to my google drive document with someone I don't know that well, call me paranoid. it's legitimate and medically diagnosed (schizophrenia). so if she could answer herself on if I can send a pdf in an email with that disclaimer that I get no money and my preferred publishing name, that would be great, thanks.

Download it as a Word file. In Google Docs go to File - Download - Microsoft Word. Then send her the Word file. I don't recommend PDF for this because she needs to be able to extract the text and format to the spec she needs for the publisher.

Okay, someone complained that the coffee in here tastes like mud. I mean, what do you expect, it was just ground this morning.🤣 dodges tomatoes

Coffee is perking, tea is steeping, and hot water is ready for making other hot beverages. Teas du jour are Irish Breakfast and Peach. Coffee is a Jamaican Blue Mountain.

After a couple days of spring-ish weather here (highs well above 0C and rain much of yesterday) winter seems to be back. Cold with flurries right now.

Okay, I am done or mostly done with all my recent obligations. I'd love to be part of this anthology and I'll have a version of Monster ready by the end of the week (I promise changes will be minor!). Do I just send you the .docx, WriterGirl? Do I need to do anything else? I've been a bit out of the loop on this.

Actually, the post that OpheliaTusk quoted has the details. It is this one:

When the fifth Harry Potter movie came out in 2007

Wow, that long. I remember watching the first one with my son when one of the US networks broadcast it. He read and watched the whole series, I kind of stalled after Philosopher's Stone.

And may I say, you have excellent taste in male actors. Rickman and Oldman are two of the greats of their generation. 😉

Good morning!!

Coffee is ground and perked. Tea, Red Rose and Earl Grey, is steeped. Hot water is ready for when Sara moseys in (can one even mosey in an orthopedic boot?) or for others wanting hot chocolate or other teas.

Google to the rescue. Found a free OCR. Sadly, it's a bit of a mess (as usual for OCR'ing images) so major editing job ahead.

I can get you a copy of your story if you still want it. It would be in its original format. Let me know and I'll PM it to you.

Already fixed and submitted.😊

Okay, but if you ever need a story ripped from a protected page, I still have the tools from when I worked in IT.

The bear actually pointed out that I could have just edited the story and copied the text from the editor so that's how I will do it in future. I actually could have extracted the text if it was text. The problem was not security but the way the pdf was generated took images of the document rather than text, hence using OCR.

Quiet streets in Toronto. What next?

Really? That's very un-Torontolike. I used to crash with friends who lived just off Bloor near the university and even pre-Sunday shopping, Bloor was terrible on Sundays and holidays.

Just took a walk. Streets and sidewalks are thawing (we're up close to 10C today) but a slushy mess in many spots. Still, there was enough clear spots that it wasn't totally awful.

Happy Family Day!! Well, that's what it is here on Ontario (and much of Canada). Truth be told, though, when you have kids, isn't every day Family Day?

There some nice Costa Rican medium roast in the coffee pot. Tea is Scottish Breakfast and Russian Caravan. Hot chocolate supply is replenished and the marshmallow truck comes tomorrow, though supply looks good.

Just seen the thread and a little late. This looks good. But, like others have said, my entry wasn’t one of the winners, or shortlisted, ones. So should it be included? Not sure.

WriterGirl says she wants all of them. It's not a winners anthology, it's a comp anthology. Mine is in, as is my Spooky Tales story which was top ten. Go for it. Your story is wanted.

It's a carryover from the base code and the other site that we seem to be stuck with. Not sure if there is a plan to deal with it

Who would know if there is a plan to deal with it?

I understand the mothership symbios has links to more adult orientated sites but Audible doesn’t look exactly the same as Amazon prime so why should a story site open to all including minors contain elements of a swingers site?

It just seems wrong. But I’m new here so pardon me if I’m stepping on toes.

SS has always struggled to break free from the influences of another site. I wonder if it would be worth raising a ticket on the gender issue? At least you should get a response from someone at Symbios. 🤔

Actually, there is big discussion of sex and gender and the difference in a thread on changing how profiles work over there so might be a good time to raise it here.

No herding kittens no doing anything for 48hrs unless it's necessary.. mad

Boredom might get to me .

Writing doesn't require a working ankle.😉

Nor do reading and watching TV. Binge something, maybe.

How's the ankle, Sara? Hope it's better.

Coffee is on. Got some nice Nicaraguan dark roast from Fire-Roasted.

Tea is Irish Breakfast and Red Rose.

Hot chocolate is on standby with myriad mini-marshmallows (enough alliteration for you?).

Sunny here and I finally slept better. Still don't feel the greatest but things are on the upswing. And one week until eye number two.

Ideally for Stories Space, choosing gender would be irrelevant and eventually not a necessity to sign up.

Agreed. Many other forums do not require it and some do not even have it. Xenforo, the software I use to run Wondercafe2 does not have a Gender field out of box anymore and if you want one, you have to add it as a custom field. And we have ours as "Male/Female/Fluid-Non-Binary" with no flags or colours tied to it.

Molly, Sherzahd (hope I got it right), and MagnificentRascal are the admins for this site and work with Symbios on it.

Proved today I was a klutz .. took a tumble sprang ankle I'm hoping.

Hope that's all it is. I have weak ankles and used to twist them pretty regularly. Just stepping on a rock the wrong way while hiking did it one time. Take care. Ice it if it's swollen and get it comfy.

Mendalla, what I did was to go to the story page here, click "Edit" at the bottom, copy the text, paste it into a Word document, then send that. Not only does that work, even if you've lost the original files, but it also includes any last-minute edits along the way.

Yeah, yeah, point out the easy way after I do it the hard way. Sigh. That's what happens when you're three sheets in the wind all the time.
