Nice day at work. I have new staff starting so I am in the office for a few days. However, she is working with another team member so I am just in my office doing stuff and sipping green tea.
The 17th has come and gone so I imagine we are getting close to the big day for the comps. Don't envy the judges at all. There's a lot to read and a lot of it is good.
I think the garbage here takes old furniture but if you put it on the curb, it is usually long gone by the time the garbage truck shows up. Scavengers know when garbage days are.
Nice, but cool, today. Will rake once we hit our high (5C). Last time this Fall I imagine.

Good evening. Took advantage of the nice weather and did yard work. My back is complaining bitterly but, hey, it's done. And I got a couple hours of fresh air and exercise out of it.
I shall join henrietta in that lemon and ginger tea.
Yeah, but the sulking and whining from the White House is getting bloody irritating. I'd call him a big baby but that would be an insult to babies.

Lovely day here. Too bad it is a work day. At least I am just working on stuff and not attending endless meetings. Kettle is on for tea or other non-coffee beverages.

I'm keeping an eye on the results on a couple news services (CNN and The Globe and Mail) but otherwise just doing other stuff. Election night coverage tends to bore me these days. Just endless talk.
Tea. In spite of some efforts by my son, coffee remains a no-go zone for me.
Beer or Wine?
I guess I need to start looking into some of these if I am wanting to up my game. The Flame Tree one is interesting. They are a big player in horror right now. Veteran British horror writer Ramsey Campbell, a longtime fave of mine, published his last few books with them.
Got to find a place I can watch results. Cut the cord last year. I imagine CNN or maybe even CBC will have a livestream tonight. All my best to the Americans on here. You may have a rough month or two ahead politically.
Meeting day at work but I'm on a breather right now. Must get some lunch.
What a competition. The challenge of writing multiple quality stories in a few weeks was a new one. Glad I got as many done as I did.
As we await the judges' verdicts, here's the final totals:

Unique authors (across all comps): 20 (as always, it's a manual count so probably a +/-1 error bar on that)
All in all, looks pretty good for our 10th anniversary celebration. I, for one, am glad to have been a part of it.
The contest may be over, but the waiting and anticipation has just begun...
Cold day here with maybe a cm or so of snow on the ground. Supposed to hit double digits Celsius starting tomorrow so it won't last, but it's winter's warning shot across our bow I think. It's not unknown to get snow here this early but not common either.
Contemplating what to write next. That comp kind of burned out my muse, I think, though I am once again contemplating what to do with the characters and setting I created for Night of the Wind. The Goddess Dances also takes place in that world, but a different region. Still might find an excuse to reference it in another story someday.
Guess we could start an informal pool on the announcement date. I am thinking Monday, November 16. Yeah, it's two weeks from the close but with the way this comp is structured, they may need that long to sort everything out.
