Such a diversity of cookies, it's getting hard to choose. Butterscotch marshmallow bar sounds good, though.

We survived the return of winter (actually, the storm didn't hit my city that hard, really). Now the weekend looms. No real big plans. Maybe start work on my taxes.

Kettle's on, coffee's brewing. I'm drinking Earl Grey.
Good morning. Speaking of aches and pains, I shoveled last evening and again before going to work this morning. IOW, winter is back in Southwestern Ontario. Let's see how long it lasts this time.

Kettle is on for tea and ... oooo, pecan divines.
* pulls another couch over to fireplace *

There, room for both.
Hunkering down as a winter storm approaches. Not sure how bad it will get, but it should be in force by evening rush hour here so evening commute may not be much fun. May just crash by the Inspirations fireplace with a tea.

Kettle is on for tea and hot chocolate, coffee is brewing, and mini marshmallows are restocked.
* puts on kettle and scarfs some gingerbread *

How's life in the rest of the world. We are looking at February going out like a lion here. No word on March's arrival though.

It's been lovely the last few days, though, at least by the dubious standards of February in Southwestern Ontario.

Rump, I started yours but got drawn away. Will hopefully get to it today. Mine ended up kind of ... meh. So back to the drawing board.

Well, if we're talking soundtracks featuring Queen:

Cheesy as Hell but, damn, Queen's music took up it up a few notches.

Really, any Star Wars with a John Williams score, but this has long been my favorite Star Wars soundtrack.

just something silly from the resident monkey

Ape give monkey hug and banana.
Tea ... must ... have ... tea. No challenge entry from the ape yet but I may give it a shot this week. I have kind of given up on some other writing projects for other sites so maybe I can focus on it.

Currently, I'm reading The History of Western Philosophy by Bertrand Russell. A great book. It starts from the Ancient times and covers every major era of our history. Also, he explains complicated things, so you can understand them easily.

Failed to comment on this before. One of my best friends back in high school and university was obsessed with Russell (mostly because of Russell's views on religion). I have a copy of History... that the friend gave me. Never read all the way through, but have read parts that interested me.
Just finished Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero. It's riffing on teen detectives with a special focus on Scooby Doo (where the title comes from). Basically, a Scooby gang-like group of kids (and one dog), now grown up, who used to solve mysteries reunites when they start to realize that their last case may be much deeper and darker than the original mundane solution. Combines Scooby Doo with H. P. Lovecraft in a very entertaining bit of storytelling. Even has a well-played lesbian romance as a subplot.

Still reading Jade War by Fonda Lee. Part two of her Greenbones trilogy, it continues the story begun in her previous novel Jade City. Basically, it's a Godfather-esque tale of the family that leads a powerful underworld clan in a faux-Asian setting, but combined with magical martial arts powered by jade. They are at war with another clan that is determined to finish them off and control the jade supply for their own benefit. Lee is both a crime novel aficionado and a practicing martial artist so she nails both elements perfectly. This novel has had a couple "holy crap, did she really write that?" moments already and I'm only at the halfway point.
I am just back from the beach (week at an all-inclusive in Jamaica). It was a nice break from the routine but not my best vacay ever.

I can't start taxes until March generally (Canadian deadline is usually late April). The deadline for employers, fund managers, etc. in Canada to issue slips and receipts is the end of February and there's always a straggler or two.

Kettle's on. Anyone else for tea, cocoa, etc.?
The Wiki entry on Tibetan "Terriers", which apparently aren't terriers at all, but rather are part of the Asian lineage that includes the Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apso. Lot of pictures in there so hopefully one of them resembles Rump's.

Good morning. Putting the kettle on. Anyone else for tea? And I hit the local Dutch bakery up for some of their legendary fritters. Apple, Blueberry, Cherry, and Lemon are on offer.
I am listening to the piece below and watching snow drift down outside my window. It's perfect.

Cinnamon Rolls? Ah'm on it, sir. I hate walking past Cinnabon in the local mall. That smell just makes me hungry. But I shall brave the temptation to get us a couple dozen of them beauties.

Kettles on for tea.

Oscars tonight. Anyone else going out of their way to avoid them or is that just me? (a) I have seen barely anything this year movie-wise and (b) awards shows (save some of the better music awards shows) bore me to tears. I am happy to just watch the highlights on Youtube and read the lists of winners.
You're first and I'm last!! (well, unless Larry or Gill or someone saunters in)

Hmmm. From that list, I'll have a Peanut Butter Ginger Snap. Kettles on. Anyone else for tea.

Nothing much doing save packing for vacation. Jamaica looms. If I come back talking funny and wearing dreads (yeah right, like I'd ever have hair long enough), just ignore me. I'll get over it after a week or too.
* drools * White chocolate * grabs one *

I'm on my afternoon green tea. A Japanese sencha, probably my favorite variety of green.

Starting a new draft of my story. It's going ... well, but I added a bit of a B plot that I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with. Just happened spontaneously.
Crunchy. Must be crunchy and preferably "just peanuts" all-natural type.

Jam or honey with your PB?
Hi, Gill! Nice to see you. I am not really sure what this traces back to. I have a few bouts of back pain due to various injuries, mostly lifting-related, over the years so probably more cumulative than anything.

Coffee and kettle are on, folks. And there's still plenty of Sara's cookies to nibble on.
