Agreed, it was most attention-holding, Gillian. Only the cancer sequence seemed irrelevant --or did we miss something?

Assume the surgery went well and you'll soon be leaping about like a Spring lamb

the only time it gets any real attention is when they have a competition on. Then you get the usual interlopers from the sister site looking for glory. This is a shame and I honestly don’t know what the answer is.

Well said, Verity. You are correct, there are some very good writers on this site. There are also sections on 'How to write' or encouraging members what to write about. I believe there should be a section on ' How to read' You will find many excuses why stories and poems are not read, but from early February most written work written work received a maximum of four comments, but when a competition comes along that leaps to near twenty I am very aware that people are working, or have family to care for but ---was the original intention of this site to give a place to read stories? And to write if inspired.

Having ranted on, I have to admit I am one of the main offenders. Having arrived here to write , I initially believed that was all I needed to do. Poetry I have never got away with (sorry Atticus) and those long tales

with many, many chapters , how do I catch up with them(sorry Anna) And I did start that tale of nurses, so lovingly written.

I know there are writers who declare that they only write for their own release and don't care if no one reads them. So be it, But I believe readers are the life's blood for writers, Without their comments, their criticisms, what would be the point? Yes, writing is an exhilerating experience---but so is reading. I'm on your side Verity.

This is a beautiful piece of description, Elizabeth.

Thank you so much Jeff. I do live in a beautiful, rural area. So quiet and private. Nature abounds. You have had plenty of wildlife around your place that I have followed with smiles.

I do envy your environment. Only the occasional urban fox but haven't seen him for a while. I think he may have destroyed all the rabbits, then left.

I certainly don't accept that black cat's excuse for the poorly looking mouse

If there's tea in the pot, that, and a moose cookie.

Fortunately the explosion had already cleared the caves, leaving a happy ape with somewhere to snooze.

Unfortunately, while they were out some evil ghoul blocked the cave.
