Who I Am

Tags: profile

Above all else, I am a kind heart beneath the exterior of my conservative attire. I lusted in my heart for Budweiser and chips. I majored in "goofing off" stretching my parent's purses. At an Ivy League school where I was, the square peg in a world of Shinola shined shoes.

It became the age of seasoning as papa sprinkled salt on my theatrics as I waisted his dime. I joined the Marine Corps. Semper Fidelis, “always faithful." Became part of the 3rd Aircraft Wing.

That was 1979. The year it snowed for 30 minutes in the Sahara Desert. Gas was 86 cents a gallon and the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini returned to Tehran, after 15 years in exile.

Eventually elevated to the rank of (E-7) Gunnery Sergeant. My final destination, El Toro air station in Irvine, California. I had decided twelve years was enough and I wanted to taste civilian life. There I met my soon to be, Shanghai-born wife. We married and moved to Savannah. My boyhood town and favorite city.

We open what became a small chain of Video Shops in the deep south. It was the age of the VHS and video machines. It was boring but won out over a bowling alley. As in all things, the demise of tapes was approaching. With some insight, I sold-out before the card came tumbling down. Opening a small bookshop with a connecting coffee house.

Never an avid reader. Now I am. Books open a wide range of interests. Writing took on a way to express me. It became my ham sandwich with many types of dressing. I found the dark side whetting my appetite and soon joined a cult that resembled the Flintstones on steroids. It was like I watched curling in animation, blindfolded.

My writing has never shown much praise, and I don't seek them. I just write with an open mind and hold on to my beliefs. I come with brutal honesty and pull no punches. Play no games or choose sides. My politics is the American dream. I love the flag and respect all people. I believe in the Constitution.
