Life Guard

Finally ran into that Life Guard again.

"I didn't think I'd see you here."
"Why?"
"I...thought you'd be working."
Leon shrugged, "I got the day off. The pool needs serious cleaning."
I couldn't think of anything else to say. Nothing clever, or funny, like he would enjoy hearing. He tilted his head at me,
"You feeling alright?"
I shrugged then, a mirror of his earlier gesture. "I don't know," I said. "I guess I just never got over you. Not really."
