A Thousand Thoughts

"Just some thoughts.."

Here and there and everywhere,

A thousand thoughts invade my mind.

Some are private but most are shared,

As each one is released there are many more behind.

I wonder at so many things,

In awe of simple life.

What’s with spider webs and Saturn’s rings,

And why is there a ‘k’ in knife?

Who’s to say the long necked giraffe,

Is weirder than the horse.

I only know that one makes me laugh,

And the other lets me ride it of course.

The sky is blue and grass is green,

And the oceans run so dark and deep.

Mountains majestic as ever was seen,

Why do dreams come in our sleep?

Who says the sun rises and falls,

As the earth spins and rotates?

And what happens to unanswered calls,

Do they sit and endlessly wait?

What’s with the moon so far and bright,

Our oceans and seas that ebb and flow?

How do the hours make it day and night?

These are things I want to know.

Five senses given to woman and man,

Touch, vision, scent, hearing and taste.

We use them all as best we can,

But without a heart they are all a waste.

We build our houses with many floors,

And surround ourselves with fences.

Guns and knives and bombs galore,

And never letting down our defenses.

Then there’s the mule with his neighs and hee-haws,

And what the hell is a platypus duckbill?

Anybody know what happens when it’s the last straw?

I also want to know how 40 is over-the-hill?

Calendars made of months and days,

And clocks which tick off minutes and hours.

I’ve often been told I’m set in my ways,

Which I deny as I sit and glower.

Ugly is such a stupid word,

The same guy came up with booger and puke.

But hate is the worst word ever heard,

Of that there is no dispute.

I wonder at the sting of a bee,

Or the bite of an ant as he scouts.

Does a hummingbird fly on wings you can’t see?

I’ve got to figure this stuff out.

A thousand thoughts cloud my mind,

They seem to mate and multiply.

Who decided that love is blind,

Or that sad movies should make you cry?

So here I sit dwelling on mysteries,

And coming to conclusions.

I can only rely on previous histories,

And avoid everyone else’s delusions.

It seems to me that I’m really alright,

And that I’m correct in my points of view.

After reading this I hope you haven’t lost sight,

That I’m really blaming all of you.
