Harder to be

Tonight,  I vow by the spirals God wove into my fingertips,

That if  I am not poet perfect.

I shall never write these words again.

"I love you, Basil. "

I stood in the eclipse of a rainbow.

I cried two even tears that the sun had killed the storm clouds.

I lost something I want back.

I lost the memory of the first time I glimpsed you.

My love,  I lost it twice.

How callous God can be to someone so careless.

My flesh has become the sharp villain against the shadows, and I can never heal.

Laying torment like sunflower seeds in a flawless earth, I will never know my withered virtue again.

My shield of brass and maple hangs limply like an empty locket.

But then our memory is still born on the cold earth some forgotten October.

My curse has only one name.
