Learn to enjoy the life you lead

Chaos strikes without a warning
Decisions made were silently storming
Lost house, car, and job in a single morning

So I cast my bootstraps on without glee
Time to prove I'm still alive, still me
Discovering myself on a rebuilding spree

And this is the home I've made, for better or worse
Have I set myself free or cast my own curse

I became full of joy and endless wonder
She was quick to laugh and ripe to plunder
I was the lightning to her thunder

Ageless fools around the middle of the clock
Joined hands halfway down the block
Rushing for comfort we ignored taking stock

And this is the home I've made, for better or worse
Have I set myself free or cast my own curse

Pictures now adorn our furniture
Fingerprints and painting galore
Laughter filled rooms our cure

Teenage rummage clutters the floor
Late night tantrums are the norm
Worry now follows the closing of doors

And this is the home I've made, for better or worse
Have I set myself free or cast my own curse

Depression hits and things get hazy
Her madness strikes and I get crazy
Weaknesses shown we're all quite lazy

Parents die and spouses remarry
Life it seems gets quite contrary
So it seems our future now tarries

And this is the home I've made, for better or worse
Have I set myself free or cast my own curse

Many memories and people adorn my walls
What’s lost, what’s kept, I sift through it all
This is where my pieces fall

It was the love of self that set me free
Only that has the strength and longevity
To help me become what I'm meant to be

And this is the home we’ve made, for better or worse
We laugh with the joy, and smile at the worst
