If we don’t listen to our hearts,

How can we find where we belong

If we don’t love one another

then the world can seem so wrong

Forget the attacks and deadly wars

Forget the hate and the insanity

We are all somehow connected

Together as a whole, called humanity

We are the woman with cancer

who still always wears a smile

We are the teen dad with a job

To work, he walks a mile

We are the one who lost a lover

feeling angry, alone and used

We are the kind elderly man

in a home where he is abused

We are both the weak and strong

The sad and the depressed

We are the single parent who

Financially was never blessed

We are the sick young man

whose life is filled with pain

We are also the romantic who

Believes in dancing in the rain

We are the soldier who was injured

in what is called an unjust war

We are the terminal young man

who can dream of a cure no more

Would we somehow be better off

If we swallowed our pride and our vanity

We all desire a sense of belonging

Trying to find our place among humanity

When I was on this journey alone

I was so desperate to find my place

I questioned if I was on the right path

Until the second I saw your face

Now we made our life together

The world is not always particularly kind

We protect our private bubble

Some days you wish you could rewind

I will love you until the end of days

You hold together my broken parts

Love is all around us even in the dark

It can be found by listening to our hearts
