I laid my heart out on my sleeve

I don't miss the drama
The who is f%*#% who
The "friends" who lie behind each others back
And have nothing better to do

I didn't lie about my age
And make myself 20 years younger
Or act like a character on stage
Faking the hunger

I was real
I laid my heart out on my sleeve
All they did was lie and steal
And do everything to make me believe

Soon, the words a beautiful cadence just for me
Was repeated verbatim
To anyone who they see
And all that was left was the ultimatum

If that song you dedicated
Was not just for feelings I made you feel
You just left everyone frustrated
Because nothing you said or did was real

How can love be true
If the emotions it evokes
Can just be transferred to whatever face is in view
That my friends, is a hoax

I was filled with hate
For the flippant lies and pretend
Until I realized it was fate
That did allow my heart to mend

I learned myself inside and out
My soul no longer haunted
I no longer had doubt
Of what I really wanted

I wanted a love no one else could make me feel
A love so strong I was the only one
Who could make that emotion real
And could never be outdone
