In the Bitterness of Breaking Dreams

I believe in nightmares that consume by day, leaving one bitter

I am wide awake, yet it’s only my regrets I see clearer

I walk alone in a tunnel I was promised would be littered with glitter

I see no light exude, of course that excludes, my hope’s last glimmer

I was told the future belongs to the youthful

I now suspect it might not have been truthful

"I should have faith and that my future is bright" they say

I even hear it echoed by my exploiters, the vaguest of advice

He only, is the exception, I suspect no deception

His distress has no no plaster and his disappointment has no discretion

He’s in the mirror, his looks to mine are akin

His hair is grey and thin, and he wears a loose and wrinkled skin

He’s has a million words, all of which I expect will be bleak

His anger aimed at me, I must hear him speak

“You believe you have the right to groan and to moan

You lay no account of the pessimistic tones, of which you are prone

You may hiss and fit, as much as you wish, but your flaws are yours to own

You should know ideas like hand-held success are the misgivings of the mistaken

You should know opportunities are never given,”

I have to take them!
