Screams my brain

Grit my teeth
And steel my jaw
Words: don't escape
Stick in that craw

My ears are open
Neutral face
I will myself
Only to say

Nothing, nothing

Just sniffle once
And twist my ring
Grab my phone
And tap the screen

I dare not speak
I'm filled with dread
Believing thoughts inside my head
Are visible, for all to see
Loud and clear: HDTV

Slowly now
I lift my face
Suppress a sigh
I think I'm safe

Steady, cooly
Then I say:
"Oh, never mind" and
"That's ok."
