Perfectly Imperfect

Walking through a field,
surrounded by flowers of all kinds,
you picked one.

You picked one that was full of color,
It gave you more pleasure and excitement,
the more you looked at it.

You picked one with a broken petal,
It knew that it had a broken petal,
long before you did.

You love your flower,
for everything that it makes you feel,
but you can't help but wonder about that petal.

What it may have looked like,
If it was more beautiful than the other petals,
If it would make you happier to have an intact flower.

And you see the other flowers...
From a distance they look perfect,
but if you look closer, you'll see...

You'll see that one of them has a root disease,
You'll see that one of them has dull colors,
You'll see that one of them is being attacked by bees.

You'll see that none of them are as perfect as they looked,
None of them are without flaws,
None of them are anywhere near as beautiful as your flower...

...missing petal and all.
