What happens after the leaves change.

When the sun and rain go away.

When the temperature changes.

The bitterness grabs you in the strangest of ways.

Its reputation precedes it.

The skies are turning gray.

The birds fly south.

The wind comes to stay.

Cold and malicious, it blows.

Never ending, always on the go.

Turns your skin to an ashy mix.

Lips chapped and in pain.

This is just the beginning of the day

The sun cracks through the sky.

Just enough to catch your eye.

Looking up, thinking it could be a nice day.

Until you feel it, the white death.

If falls like it has never fallen.

Covering everything in the Devils Cocaine.

You scramble trying to find the way.

Before everything is too dangerous to get away.

You get in your car, to head down the road.

Visibility is low, like being blinded.

Crawling into your driveway.

You step out onto the concrete.

Almost bust your ass, but you keep walking.

Walk inside almost crying.

Laying down your keys, sitting in the recliner.

You have survived the devil's winter.
