The Grass Withers

"The grass withers and the flower fades..."
And we know that this is so
To grasp this truth is a lesson learned
But the learning is so slow
The things we cherish change with time
And there's nothing we can do
We cannot turn the clock back now
Some things we can't renew
We feel the pain and we cry at night
And we wish we had only known
And wake up with the birds at dawn
And find we're still alone
Time marches on and we're aware
"Now" is so very dear
To give our all to those we love
And to bless them while they're here
