The Phone Call

The Phone Call

Anxious and excited she lays in bed
recalling their last conversation
When they made plans
to phone each other for the very first time.

Looking up at the ceiling
Pulling the sheet over
She tries to get comfortable
Turning left and then right
readjusting the pillows
closing her eyes.
As the butterflies build
in the pit of her stomach.

She runs through a list of what ifs,
What if she says something stupid,
even says something offensive
What if he just does not like her?
Or even if he likes her more
What will happen next?

In her heart she wants to take this next step
Talk to the man that means everything too her
He is her everything
However, she also understands
What is meant to happen will...
