The Playground

Off we go to the playground
To laugh and jump and run.
Holding your hand on the way,
Our bodies poised for fun.

Dizzy from the merry-go-round,
Holding tight to your hand.
You keep me safe and grounded,
Protected from the unplanned.

The teeter totter goes up and down,
Insides all aflutter.
You fill me with joy; toes to nose
Laughing like a nutter.

Then we swing without a sound,
Lost in our own thoughts.
Where to next?
What is left?

A glance askance turns frowns around,
swinging higher and higher.
I grab your hand; away we jump
Unafraid of what will transpire.

No matter what happens
We're in it together,
Love, trust, care, and hope.
You and me, forever.
