The Promise

The boxes are packed
The truck is stacked
The movers have just closed the door

With a look over my shoulder
I’m now feeling bolder
This is my life no more

When life starts anew
Everything is askew
Like driftwood upon the shore

My hands they are shaking
A big step we are taking
As a couple we start to explore

We can bend, with no breaks
We will make mistakes
Never fear, we won’t keep score

Honey, with you by my side
We’ll take it in stride
As we discover what life holds in store
