280 words 280 words
High on a rocky outcrop of stone
Where earth meets the sky and the gods are forgotten ghosts
He stands his ground on a mountaintop in a far off land
A self imposed exile cut off from man

Vigilant gaze sweeping the valley floor
He waits for the one prophesied to come
Given this task when his heart was young
His duty to guard from harm the one who is to come

Last of his kind he sits his vigil alone
final warrior of the eldest gods
Honor and glory he felt he never won
Warring with himself over deeds he had done
Seeking atonement before his final journey onward

Timeless wait for the prophecy states
One will come whose courage will not be out shown
She will carry wings made of light and dark
Her eyes the color of thunderous skies
Her voice will bring a rush of hope

She will leave her mark upon his heart
In her wisdom he will find forgiveness
He will swim in her source finding acceptance
In her gaze his destiny will blaze
Fate will lead him to a new beginning

Tethered together she will release his soul
In her hands he will give over his sword
At her feet he will lay his shield
Redemption and victory found in his surrender
Standing naked before her he will be just a man

On a pinnacle of stone at the top of the world
Where earth meets the sky and the gods are just specks in mortals eyes
He waits for she who is to come
She who dances with the moon and has visions of the stars
She whose source is her heart
