To My Sister

To my older sister, Katie

There are times that words cannot describe,
These emotions that buzz in my mind.
So chaotic and fleeting they can be.
So try to open your mind and see.
I loved you more than you had known.
I the younger sister could not show,
Just how much you meant to me.
Even though you were gone from a broken family.
I was never so graceful as you.
Nor was I as pretty too.
You never seen that shadow you cast.
And I know it is the distant past.
I took it in stride, I wasn't noticed.
I'm not so important anyway.
I was reminded whenever the neighbors wanted to play.
They came to see you, not me every day.
When they did, I was your baby doll.
Dressed me up, and combed my hair.
Placed me in a stroller, like anyone cared.
I never complained.
Not one word to say no.
Because I loved you, and wanted you to see,
Your wonderful little sister, me.
But you ran away and left me behind.
You changed families, to be kind.
You'll never know how my heart shattered.
Because to you at that moment, I never mattered.
