Tomorrow

Tomorrow,
The day after today;
Its almost here, just a few hours away.
After waiting impatiently all of my life,
Goodbye and good riddance to toil and strife.
So long disappointment, farewell to frustrations,
Tomorrow has promised to meet my expectations.
Love and excitement and the finest of clothes;
Oh you seem so doubtful as you look down your nose.

Early in the morning I'll climb Mt. Everest,
Then shop Paris, and all before breakfast.
By midday I'll publish my first book,
Fiction, I suppose, oh don't give me that look.
I'll have lunch in Aspen with the love of my life,
Then in the afternoon I'll make her my wife.
We'll honeymoon at the beach, maybe San Tropez.
Hey, I've paid my dues. Don't look at me that way!

You say its not my first time playing this game?
Waiting for tomorrow when tomorrow never came.
But that was yesterday when I was just a sprout,
I'm older now and I've figured it out.
Today is today, to be followed by tonight;
Then tomorrow must follow at dawn's first light.
I learned it in school, at a university.
Oh yes, you see, I have a degree.

Today is but only yesterday's tomorrow,
And tomorrow's yesterday is today, you follow?
So chasing tomorrow is a waste of energy,
Just wait a few hours and you'll find synergy.
In other words, why walk when you can ride?
Just relax and take it all in stride.
So excuse me now for I must get my rest
Before I put my theory to test,
Tomorrow.
