Was It Me

Tags: love, life

I don't remember a childhood spent
Nothing like Leave It to Beaver
It seems my boyhood came and went
Feeling like an underachiever

Was it me?

I ran with scissors down the hall
After eating I always swam
Other rules broken I don't recall
No one really gave a damn

Was it me?

Girls in school were easy for me
It was the other stuff I hated
I was so busy I just couldn't see
My paths were becoming fated

Was it me?

Just yesterday or so I thought
A young man stood in the mirror
The golden ring never caught
Unable to bring happiness nearer

Was it me?

I sold my soul for a shiny penny
I tucked it in my shoe
When it came to luck I didn't have any
Until the day I met you

Was it me?

Suddenly it all became clear
My struggles seemed so small
I finally chose to face my fear
It turned out to be nothing at all

Was it me?

I wonder at my good fortune
You loving me as you do
No longer in chaos and distortion
My life has become all about you.

Is it me?
