Winter is coming

The seasons change no matter how much we don't want them to.

The days are shorter,
They grow colder,
They grow dimmer,
A breeze from the north.

Green fades to gray,
Not steady each day,
But slowly, inexorably,
The summer will fade.

I feel it in my bones.
I feel it in my head.
I feel it in my soul.
Little to feed my heart.

The fields are more sparse,
No leaves on the trees,
The sun hides behind clouds.
The chill seeps in.

Winter is coming.
I need you to huddle close.
Before the heat fades.
