Was puzzling over that myself. Where I come from "Earl Grey" just means Ceylonese black tea with oil of bergamot. The tea stores I frequent often add additional flavourings to create variations, but that's the basic Earl.

'Tis now late afternoon, so a nice green will fill my cup going forward.


I agree. There's all sorts of flavours added to 'spice up' the flavour, which is fair enough, but I start the day with the basic version. Just black tea with oil of bergamot. So refreshing. ☕

Actually, I have a couple favorite variants.

Earl Grey Supreme, which I buy from a locally owned shop called Tea Haus, uses more bergamot than usual for a stronger citrus flavour

Cream of Earl Grey from David's Tea, a chain that covers most of Canada and some US areas, is Earl Grey with vanilla.

However, bedtime draws near so I need something caffeine free. Lemon ginger herbal will go down nicely.

Much as I admit to not liking Earl Grey your post reminded me to check my pantry, as I have friends who do like Earl Grey. This is what you have to choose from if you ever visit me ..


Queens Earl Grey (Darjeeling spoilt with bergamont.. sorry couldn't resist)

Blue Star Earl Grey (Black tea and flower petals.. according to the label)

French Earl Grey (a must here ... black tea, fruit, flower petals)

Earl Grey Organic (for really fussy friends.. label just says black tea, bergamot)

I hope you enjoy French pastries? They are always fresh as it's impossible for them to last a whole day with me around

Any one else attending Remembrance Ceremonies tomorrow morning?

I am going to the Cenotaph with my cousins. Rain is forecast and if President Trump doesn't show I will be annoyed, really annoyed. If you are following what is happening here in France at the moment you will understand.

Never seen Earl made with Darjeeling before. Usually it's Ceylonese black. Neat. Both my tea shops use organic in their Earl Greys so that's nothing special. Actually, I just got back from David's Tea with the following haul:

Cream of Earl Grey (mentioned above)
Blueberry Jam (black tea with blueberries and black currants)
David's Breakfast Blend (just a nice blend of black teas from India and Ceylon)

Yes, bergamot seems to be the marmite of tea flavours. You either love it or hate it! ☕

Just in from raking. I hate deciduous trees. And I want my teenager back. Didn't rake all that much but the bags were heavy as hell. Lucky my back is still intact.

(Kidding about hating trees, BTW. Just hate cleaning up after them)

Anyone got anything exciting happening? New writing to talk about? Fun plans for the upcoming holidays (US Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Year's)?

I have a story underway but not for here. And it may fizzle out. Also plotting out the next adventure of the characters from Night of the Wind and that's what I'll write next (or maybe in parallel).

Nope. It's not working. None of my posts in this thread from this afternoon show in my forum posts, but my posts in the This and That thread and a couple other threads do. So it's not just a lag issue and it's not just rune. Maggie's been alerted and I'm sure it'll be something simple.

Good morning, SS world! Just dropping by for a cuppa. Slept better last night so in a bit of a better mood. We had snow again this morning but, once again, it will be gone by end of day. Still too warm for it to last. My garage isn't going to be able to switch my tires for another week, so that's a good thing.
