Hunkering down for another hot one here. Got some online shopping done (one for curbside pickup, one for delivery) and that's really about it. Not very ambitious but, hey, it's a day off and I am sure it's okay to just crash and rest on those.
Anyhow, one of my orders was to replenish my tea stash. Scottish Breakfast, Duke of Earl (a fancy Earl Grey), Wakoucha (a Japanese black that's on sale so I decided to try it), and my favorite sencha. I will restock the loose leaf here once they arrive.

It's hot here as well. An expected high of 95 today. I do miss my parent's pool.
I'm not a fan of fireworks, I have a severe phobia of unexpected loud noises. Professional fireworks displays I am okay with, but not the sudden loud noise of random neighbors lighting off personal fireworks.
I haven't been outside on the Fourth of July since I was a child. My family loves loud fireworks. I stay inside and cook.
Smoked, barbecue pork shoulder is on the menu. Haven't figured out the sides yet, except for coleslaw.
Going to go and do some gardening. I need to weed and harvest some basil to make pesto.

My July 4 hasn't exactly been a party so far. And the fireworks mostly consisted of me saying bad boy words. However, the grass is cut and several trees and bushes are pruned to cut down on blue language (when a branch is 5' off the ground and you are 5'11", swearing oftentimes is the result).
I'll just hunker down with some iced tea as the temperature rises. 32C here today per the forecast. And that's set to last through the coming week.

Got in a nice hour walk today. Visited the valley along the west side of my neighbourhood, which I have not hiked in a while. Nothing dramatic but it's dense enough that you can kind of forget you're in the suburbs of a moderate size city when you're down there.

It amazes me how quickly some constituencies are to rush into re-opening. Here in Ontario, we're allowing patios with suitable social distancing but that's it as far as dining/drinking out. And groups of 10 max, though they are now allowing some bubbling. And some part of the province were held back due to ongoing outbreaks. A very cautious approach, in other words. Now as things die down, municipalities and health officers are bringing in masking rules to make sure they are in place before the province gets it in its head to go to "stage 3".

It was a good weekend except for the few hours I spent avoiding the noise of loud fireworks.
Had a good dinner of smoked pork shoulder barbecue, coleslaw, homemade baked beans, pasta salad, and strawberry shortcake for dessert.
The best part is plenty of leftovers.
I hope everyone had a good weekend.
I have a list of things I need to do outside but it's too hot and humid.
I'll have lemonade to go, please.

Been a member for a long time but don't frequent the place much. Hello to all.
A double espresso would go down a treat, and give me a bit of a jolt to do some writing tonight. Kinda wasted the weekend, but I'm on vacation so it's all fine.

Last night some wild violent thunderstorms rolled through my area. I have never heard such a loud clap of thunder. It sounded like something blew up. Everyone came out of their bedrooms, neighbors all came out of their houses.
The power was knocked out for a large portion of our neighborhood. Luckily ours came back on quickly but not before the surge fried one cable box and blew a capacitor in the AC compressor. Thankfully my husband fixed the AC this morning and I'll get a new cable box tomorrow in the mail. The whole area had between 4-7 inches of rain.
Hopefully, tonight will be calmer. At least I don't have to water my garden.
I made some Cherry-Limeade today. I'll leave a pitcher on the counter and take some cookies to go.

Supposed to be a 60% chance of showers or thunderstorms here this evening (I even exercised at home rather than risking a premature shower) and my brother liked a tweet from someone who saw lightning in the area, but nothing. We need the flipping rain, too. My yard is starting to "brown up".
