We had storms here as well last night. Didn't really cool anything off but my garden loved it.
I'm back to manic cooking and baking. I was ecstatic to find yeast at the store yesterday so it's bread baking day today.
I also tried a no-churn recipe for ice cream last night. Coffee Oreo flavor, it turned out well. I'm going to start experimenting with different flavors now that I know it it works. It's ridiculously easy to make.
It was too hot this weekend out on the bay. The water temperature was ninety degrees and the bay was full of large jellyfish. I don't mind the heat if I can swim, but I do not get along with jellyfish. I have an extreme reaction to their stings.
I'll leave some ice cream in the fridge. It will go great with some of Sarah's cookies.
Cheers Everyone!
Cooled off here for a few days, which I am down with.
Had a nice takeout dim sum today. My beloved immigrated to my homeland 33 years ago today so wanted to celebrate. There was actually a couple eating in at the restaurant, everyone else was taking out.
Writing seems to be off the table for me right now. I have been doing some work on my fantasy world (the one where Night of the Wind is set) but whether I get a story out of that, who knows. I once had good intentions about that story being the start of something and I just haven't liked any of my ideas for continuing it.
Sonja did not have a cat. So why was this one making itself at home in her house?

The metal singer made Brenda an interesting offer, but was her interest in the music ... or him?

With a 500 word limit, I figured it wouldn't take long for entries to start showing but, wow, three already. Guess I need to get cracking.
Scottish breakfast is filling my cup this morning and (checks cookie jars) mmmm, pumpkin.

Sara, I hope your migraine goes away soon. I'm familiar with that pain. Sometimes I can stop one if I catch it at the beginning by drinking a Coke.
I was pleased to see three entries already for the new competition.
It hasn't been below 90 since June here. It's predicted to stay above ninety for the foreseeable future. So I am indulging in my summer hobby of complaining about the heat. I'll switch it up come winter.
I have been cooking enough this week so it's leftover night.
I made a pitcher of Limeade with fresh mints leaves. I'll leave it on the counter as I scurry away with some cookies.
Cheers Everyone!
It isn't as hot here as last week but still muggy.
Read the three comp entries and things are definitely starting off well.
Sara, I was on a meeting with someone today who actually uses supplemental oxygen to help with her migraines. Ironically (or perhaps not), she's a Respiratory Therapist who manages one of our branches. She's also a Mom whose kids are still not that old, IIRC, so migraines must be hell for her.

Got a couple paragraphs on a possible entry scribbled out. Started writing in OneNote for the first time, then realized it doesn't give a way to get a word count so I'll probably have to copy over to Word at some point. Not entirely sure where it goes, yet, but sometimes it is best to let stories show you where to go.
Glad to hear your migraine is over, Sara. I get tension headaches quite bad sometimes and I can't picture a headache being worse than that, but apparently migraines are. * shudders *
The week draws to a close, so I think shall settle over on the big comfy couch with tea and cookies and a critter or two for company.

You know, Rump, I swear Windows 10 may actually be more prone to the "blue screen of death" (we just call it BSOD, pronounced "bee-sawed", in IT) than 7 & 8 were. I swear I have seen more of them in the past couple years than in all the years I was using Windows 7.
Good morning and happy weekend, everyone!! Tea and ... well, tea anyhow. Need to refresh the munchies, I guess.

Good morning to you. Kettle is on. I'm having a Scottish Breakfast myself but there's plenty of varieties of teas out. The popcorn machine should arrive in a couple days. Amazing what you can find online.
First draft done. 600 words and I'm still missing two of the word bank words so second draft will be a heavy revision. Kind of hate to do it since I like where it is at but I don't have another comp idea right now so I kind of have to try to make this one work.
