How y'all are? I'm onboard big time with the chorus of 'Best Wishes' directed toward our, Larry, the aptly named, Survivor.
I've fallen behind schedule on my competition entry. Sharing a suite in a residential care facility with a spouse in the latter stages of dementia can play hell with schedules. But I still have her and we can still communicate. As some of you can testify, things could be a lot worse.
Out here in the desert, temps have plummeted and are now hovering around 82f at sunset. Think I'll whip up a mug of hot chocolate, liberate a handful of Sarah's cookies then go sit outside in the 'gloaming' Grab yourself some refreshment and come join me and let me know how I did spelling, 'gloaming'. ;)
Later, Inspirators..
I can't sleep but I welcome it because there's a certain comfort in being awake late at night.

Well, don't get me wrong cause it took me awhile to accept that I'm pretty much nocturnal but yeah, I hear you.

So, I just rolled back all the edits I did on my Full Length story entry today. Just can't seem to get it right and hit the length I want. Try again tomorrow. I generally like the story, just finding a lot of fiddly bits in the writing I don't like.

I'm probably in the minority but I love a cold rainy Sunday.
We spent yesterday looking at properties and houses on the Northern Neck of Virginia. In a few years, we want to leave the DC metro area.
It was an interesting day. Some places were very rural, a bit too much for me. They were too far away from any doctors, grocery stores, etc. Did see a few places that were a more reasonable distance but it would still be a huge change for us. You get spoiled when everything is within an easy drive. Going to keep looking at places in Virginia near or on the water, either the Chesapeake Bay or one of the many rivers.
Today is a lazy day for reading and finding my next guilty binge-worthy show.
I hope everyone has been having a good weekend.
Cheers!
I wouldn't mind getting out of the city a bit. We are just South of Lake Huron and there's plenty of small communities up there where we could move. Or we could get some lakefront property between communities, which would be my ideal. They get more snow up there but this would likely be post-retirement so won't matter much if we get snowed for a couple days. And, really, after working from home most of the past 7 months, I am pretty sure I could manage it. Only question mark might be the quality of the Internet up there. My wife is more of a city girl, though, (she grew up in Shanghai, China, which makes even the largest cities in Canada look tiny by comparison) so not sure if it will happen or not.
Floors washed. Now contemplating raking some leaves. It's cool out but there's only a slight chance of showers so it is probably safe to do yard work.

I smile at Gill's report on the Northern Neck. She is absolutely right about access to top quality medical care. Richmond is it.
And I spent years disagreeing with my husband about moving permanently to our weekend place in the Shenandoah Valley. Thought I would have nothing to do or anyone to talk to except farm wives and I wasn't raising crops or animals.
But lo and behold, it has been great. Have large group of good women friends and not one of them milks cows. All imports from D.C. area. We are on the Shenandoah River and while it is small where we are, still beautiful with the mountains in the back drop. Good shopping and medical care is almost an hour away (like Richmond) but there is plenty of choices (Winchester, Harrisonburg, UVA at Charlottesville. People living here get used to driving much farther than I ever thought I'd get used to.
Scott, I know you would love to be on the Lake and hope it all works out.
Well, let me tell you, it's like this. I've just submitted a contest entry in the long form category. What with the proverbial one thing and another, it's been many moons since I submitted anything of any length. Chaulk it up to RL, depression, and the writer's block from hell. . What made everything even more 'interesting' was my having all new software featuring fiendishly depraved new features, along with tweaks to the Lush/Stories Space package
But it is now accomplished. Once I've recuperated from all the writerly trauma, I'll see if there's -a non-contest story or two anxiously waiting for some sort of approval. ;)
No doubt a mug of coffee and a handful of Sarah's cookies should speed up that process.
:Later, Inspirators.

Hello, everyone! Rumps, I loved your comp story. Great to read something from you and hope that pesky writer's block stays away!
Hello Elizabeth and Sara, I'm afraid my knowledge of geography is so poor that the areas you mentioned are just (very nice-sounding) words to me!
Here in Ireland, it's damp, grey and chilly. So that's us for the winter then!
I'll grab a handful of Sara's delicious cookies and a coffee to wake me up.
Head empty. No thoughts; only Jane. Aka how I forgot this place exists.

Trust me, we Canucks are eager to see the end of this election cycle, too. And, hopefully, the end of 45.
Sadly, I must attend a work meeting today even though I am technically on vacay. Hope its short and quiet but that's not really the nature of the meeting. * sighs and grabs a cookie *

Yeah, there was a real run of new stories yesterday, eh. I started a new story last night but not sure I'll get it done by Saturday so it may end up as a non-comp story. Was going to work on it today but got sucked into a problem at work. So much for vacation.
Oo, Hallowe'en cookies. I think I'll have a black cat and a pumpkin with my breakfast tea.

...somebody followed my Janestagram (and yes, I really do have an IG devoted to her) and...well, idk what I was expecting, but now my body is full of butterflies and I forgot to get coffee cause they're also a Janestagram.
...and on another note, hey to anyone here. I'm getting coffee before I get distracted again.
