Pleased to hear you've come through your health problem, Verbal, --at least one of them!

Talking of movies, if I'm not too late, "Where the crawdad sings," is one of the best films I've ever seen on Netflix

I'll look for it, Red.

I can't believe I couldn't figure out how to start a new thread. Brain fart.

I have a bit of memoir coming out today. I won't post a link, but if you look up Split Lip Magazine, it's there.

Other than that, woke up too early, and so am kind of irritable. Hopefully that burns off - it looks to be a nice day.

In case I haven't mentioned it yet this year, the Mets again suck. Sorry Red.

Coffee please.

Mets suck. Leafs suck. Some teams just can't catch a break (or a ball in the Met case 🤣)

Halloween looms and my annual story is here. Is it a trick? Or a treat? Let me know.

A lit influencer I sometimes used to watch on YouTube spent a whole video poking fun at the book so I've been kind of wondering.

I was going to watch another David Bowie movie this past weekend but the one I had in mind had him dying at the end and that was too close to irl events so I passed.

...and in other news, just when I thought I wasn't so into George Harrison anymore, I was proven wrong. I think I really, really like him - but definitely not as much as Tommy.

You could watch Last Temptation of Christ and just rewind the scene with him as Pilate a few times. 😉

I could but I kind of want to see something where him's in like every scene. Even Labyrinth doesn't have enough of him.

I can't think of many movies where he did play that big a role. The Man Who Fell To Earth is the only one I can think of. Even in The Hunger he goes away fairly early.

That's on my list of them. It's probably my favorite look of him's, too.

Morning all.

Have an appointment today I got last second with a new neurologist. Let's hope this one has a little more intellectual curiosity about what might be happening to me. I'm a little nervous.

Sold another story! That Weird Western (yes, it's a genre) I wrote was accepted! So that's a nice way to start the day.

I hope everyone is well.

Coffee and a cookie please.

Cool. Yeah, the Weird Western is actually a surprisingly big genre. There's books, movies, even at least one tabletop RPG that I know of (Deadlands). Probably some computer games, too, though I can't think of any right now.

Asking me to choose between any other classic rocker and Tommy is pointless cause I'm gonna pick Tommy every time cause nothing and nobody sounds better to me than him (even though I do like a lot of other artists too).

Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood morning!!!! And remember, it's always morning somewhere so you can use this greeting any time you like! My late friend Mike taught me that (who was also a writer but passed away before I knew about this place, else I'd have cajoled him into contributing here).

Coffee? Hmm.

Deathwish Dark Roast sounds good for a Friday.

Teas?

Raspberry and Darjeeling in the pots, others available. Hot water is ready.

Last working day for those of us working stiffs. And this is a long weekend in most of Canada.

Later!

Hi folks

It was a good trip to Utah last week. Had so much fun and spent way too much

But that is how it always goes . Saw lots of historical buildings they were so cool. Next trip is in July for 2 days in Phoenix for baseball game worship

But I have fresh cookies today .. today's theme is farm animals: cows ,chickens, goats, sheep, horses and donkeys

putting the fresh cookies in the barn shaped cookie jar and cleaning out the crumbs in the glass cookie jars

A large hot chocolate with a splash of coffee and a mountain of mini marshmallows. Working on my comp story smile

giving the adorable critters fresh water and treats

My Competition Story : 💜 Milly's Adventure https://www.storiesspace.com/stories/childrens/millys-adventure-2

I loved Utah when I went there. Was mostly hiking in the National Parks, but did visit St. George on our way back to Vegas where we were flying from.

YAY!! Mine is almost done (I think, I've ignored it today to let it stew a bit).

Good morning!!! Hope folks are having a nice Saturday.

There's some Kicking Horse 454 in the coffee pot. Teas are Assam and Cream of Earl Grey. Hot water is available for other hot beverages. I've washed the pitchers and refilled them with unsweet iced tea and lemonade. Sodas are stocked up.

I am in the comp now, or will be once the magic mod does their thing. Interesting to see the reactions. It's a bit different from my usual, at least for this place. The only past story here I can think of that's similar is The Goodbye We Never Had, at least in that both are fairly realistic, modern stories about human relationships rather than horror or fantasy.

I realize I've been a bit of a stranger, but there IS a reason: Bear and Girl.

I'm putting it together in a book, and I've hired a publication company to help produce, but more importantly, market it. I hate marketing. It was the one part of my job I didn't like – promoting myself.

Anyway, another part of the reason I'm here is that I've just submitted my comp entry, and am anxiously awaiting approval or rejection. I hope the mods like it!

I'll let folks know when it hits the street – one way or the other.

Meanwhile, I'll check for GF cookies, and grab a cup of Cream of Earl Grey tea, then mosey on back to Sara's Spot and set for a spell!

Latest Competition Entry: Dreaming…

I think I am fully recovered from hosting a wedding. My house is back to normal, and things are back where they should be. We have been able to enjoy all the flowers left over. Our backyard still looks festive.

I'm glad to see a few more comp entries coming in.

It's a rainy, cool weekend here. I'm being lazy and spending the weekend reading and binge-watching television.

Have a good Sunday everyone. Cheers.

OK, so the moderator must have felt particularly generous today as my comp entry has been approved!

I didn't even have a wedding and mine's looking pretty festive with my redbuds and lilacs flowering basically simulataneously. And the iris around the deck are in bloom, too. With the peonies coming soon, hopefully before we leave on vacation in two weeks.

Get real, you're probably a shoo-in for approval at this point based on your track record here and elsewhere. Will try to get to it today. Glad to have you back around.

And with that...

I'll leave you with some Tobermory Flowerpot Island in the coffee pot (not the flower pot), and some Earl Grey and English Breakfast teas. Hot water is available for other hot bevvies.

Funny story. My mom thought my favorite Beatle was Ringo for years and now I think she's right.

And that leads me to think that Georgie, while I do like him a lot, was my beard (so to speak) for the feelings I actually have for Ringo.

My heart has wi-fi and the password is Drew Carey.

Ringo certainly comes across as the most cheery and personable of the Fan Four. That's kind of attractive. And we're talking crushing on him, not having him play drums for you.😂 (I know, Ringo being a terrible drummer is a played out and I have heard some suggestions it is exaggerated, too.)

If anything - or anyone, I should say - Pete Best is the terrible drummer. Just cause that's him's last name doesn't make it true.

I knew of Ringo even as a kid cause him was Mr. Conductor on 'Shining Time Station,' which is probably why my mom assumed him was my favorite.

I remember him in that. It was a good gig for him as an actor and he played it well.

Good morning, folks.

Holiday up here to celebrate, apparently, Queen Victoria who was the queen who signed Canada into law (the British North America Act of 1867). These days it's more about opening cottages, having BBQs, and making ungodly amounts of noise with fireworks. I think a lot of high schools have their formals/proms this weekend, too. My son's did, anyhow.

There's some Fire Roasted Sunrise (appropriate for a morning cuppa) in the coffee pot. Red Rose and Original Earl Grey (has both orange and bergamot instead of just the latter) are teas du jour. Hot water is ready for other teas and hot beverages. Fridge is well-stocked with pitchers of unsweet iced tea and lemonade plus a near magical assortment of sodas (look in there and your favourite brand and flavour will be there, guaranteed).

Have a good one!!

Hey everyone.

A poem of mine was approved a few days ago, so that was exciting; Mater Dolorosa. I'm maybe rethinking entering the comp. I still have the same problem; not one idea.

I hope you all have a beautiful day.

Okay, well now I have an idea! Music is ready to play in the background and I am in the beginning stages of unfolding my story which I hope to share with you all. How fun! 😀❤️

Nice to see a new batch of stories! Looking forward to reading them.

And congrats on the Girl and Bear book, James. I enjoyed those stories.

Not much new here. Critique group tonight, which means I am reading and critique most of the day. It does get in the way of a productive day.

Time to make the donuts. I’d love a coffee.

It's not published yet. I'm working on release next month, in time for beach-time reading lists.

I'll be sure to let everyone know. It will be offered for free on Kindle for a limited time, and I would appreciate it if people could comment on Amazon about the book.

I'll let y'all know when it's about to launch.

Thanks!

And an Original Earl Grey tea for me, please, Ape!
