Good evening everyone! Finally managed to get back here – apologies for the absence! And I've spent some time figuring out the new interface while submitting a story. It had me stumped for a while, but I just kept telling myself, "They know they have to make it simple enough for bears, they KNOW they do…" and kept plugging. Eventually, I figured out how it worked by trial and error.

Speaking of which: Where does red mean go, and green mean stop?

I'm glad it wasn't just me. I kept trying to enter, and kept getting "Time Out" errors. But we seem to have oiled the hinges on the door today, so TA-DA! Here I am.

Lovely to see everyone. I'm hoping to post a couple of new Bear & Girl stories today, if anyone's interested. And I'm going to try to figure out the Inspirate challenge. As the later, great Yogi Berra once said, "You can see an awful lot just by looking."

And with that, I'd like some tea, Earl Grey, hot, please. In a polar bear mug, if possible.

Thanks all!

Hi my friends.

I have been off my rocker for a few days but started feeling better last night. I am falling so far behind on my reading. Please accept my apology.

I love my father, but he believed in so many of the right-wing conspiracies like Covid-19 was a hoax. So he did not get the vaccine. Last week he got sick. He would not go to the doctor because he did not think it was serious. My sister and her husband, who live with my father, made him go to the hospital on Sunday night with labored breathing and a fever. When they arrived My sister and her husband had their temperatures taken to get in the hospital and found out they both had fevers too. All three were tested and were positive for Covid-19. Last night my father died of Covid-19. My sister and her husband both had their vaccines. My sister still has a slight fever and a sore throat and her husband no longer has any symptoms. Next week I will be going to Charlotte, NC with my family for his funeral.

I am heartbroken and upset. I can not help but think my father threw his life away because of the lies he listened to and believed.

Until I return from the funeral, I will not be writing much, but I will try to read some. I am sure that reading your stories will help keep me sane for the next two weeks.

Death is a part of life, just like birth, happiness, love, and tragedy.

Till later. Be safe, happy, and continue being the great people you are.

Laughter is healing, so remember; chameleons who can not change color are suffering from reptile dysfunction.

Sir, we have not been properly introduced, but I offer my sincere condolences, especially in what appears to have been a tragic, but preventable, death.

The knaves that tell these lies will be held accountable, if not in this life, then the next. I like to believe they will stand in line before the Throne of God to account for their lives, just behind suicide bombers.

Hope that your reading brings you some peace.
Good afternoon all!

I've been notable by my absence of late, but as I am reliably assured that absence makes the heart grow fonder, I should be truly embraceable by now!

(sniffs under his arm) Well…maybe later, after I've had my daily ice bath!

Just checking in. I'll totally ignore the idea of a Ping/Verbal offspring as being…un-Ping-able…but would someone please fill me in on Tams' write-our-own-story idea? I think I missed something along the way!

I've continued "The Bear and Girl" series, and, to my surprise, the two characters wanted to get into a discussion of God, the Universe, and A Lotta Stuff.

Not exactly your normal talking bear fantasy, I'll admit, but it's where they wanted to go, and what kind of author would I be to stop two determined characters?

Anyway, I'd like to snaffle some of Sara's almost day-old GF cookies, plus some tea, Earl Grey, hot, à la Picard, and amble off to do some reading. I've just discovered Sara's "Scamp" series, and that should give me a warm glow for a while.

Thanks, y'all!

James, you are so right. What was that sign maker thinking. Must have been from Mars or Pluto. Here is one more appropriate for the wonderful people that live in the north:

So true, Elizabeth! I've had people tell me to stop saying "I'm sorry" – to which I've replied…wait for it… "I'm sorry!" I actually did that today.

For example, I'm REAL sorry that Team Canada beat the American women's football (soccer) team to get into the final, avenging the horribly officiated loss of the 2012 Olympics!

Sara! Oh, boy! I haven't had great GF sugar cookies in donkey's years! Thank you, sweet lady!

Mmmmmm…

Oh, Sorry!

For my dear friends from Canada:

Actually, I think that sign should say, "One day Canada will take over the world, and then WE'LL apolgize for the necessity!"

You, know, Canadians being so polite and all…

Good morning everyone! A lovely day here in the Great White North! How's everyone doing?

I have a full day ahead, but wanted to stop in and say howdy.

Howdy!

Psst. The bear is getting older. Pass it on.
to JamesPBear!!!

Hey! I'm not getting older! I'm getting badder! Oh, wait…

And thanks to Scott, Verity, and Larry for their well-wishes. Or did they wish me down a well? I get confused sometimes.

I'll have some tea, please. Earl Grey, hot, as Picard used to say.

And congratulations to all the winners of the competition! As they say in all the best sports cliché books: I'm just happy to be here!

Gotta get working on the next installment of The Bear and the Girl now, and looking forward to what they're going to say to each other!

Take care all!

hi peeps
Tam in the Elmo Cookie jar is gluten free cookies
There is a Polar Bear that lurks in the Coffee house that is on a gluten free diet too .

*Peeking in the cookie jars * we are in good shape
* Giving the adorable critters fresh water and treats*
Stay safe everyone.

MMMmmmmm… GF cookies! Thanks so much Sara! Hardly anyone does that these days, so, as a celiac bear, I usually don't even look at the treats.

And I don't drink coffee – like many polar bears, I love the smell, but it never tastes like that! I'll have some tea, Earl Grey, hot, please.

Lovely, breezy day here in Toronto town. Highs in the low 20s (that would be the low 70s to y'all), but the breeze makes it feel cooler. Fortunately, I have my fur to keep me warm!
Good evening, y'all. I haven't been by much – it's been a busy period for me – but I have been warmed by the welcome and kind comments on my comp entry, and the story I've published – the sequel to which just got taken into repair for a faulty Third person transition.

Anyway, just wanted to stick my head in and howdy.

Howdy!
Hey, everybody! It's Verity's Birthday today! So, to celebrate, I brought some sprinkley cupcakes!

After all, sweets for the sweet, right? Have a cupcake, Verity, dear!

So, are you legal yet, Verity?

Happy Birthday, girl!

ugh. didn't think I'd finish. just submitted my comp.

chocolate milk, please.

i've decided to protest everything capital.

sorry, gotta go. another busy day. will start reading the rest of the stories later tonight.

good day to y'all (now officially accepted as a word)

Damn! Just when I was in sight of reading all of the comp entries!

Well, at least we have Kat's testimonial to go on, so I'll look forward to reading it, Ping!

Like Ping, I'm Canadian, and I have to say that I picked up "y'all" years ago. It's such a useful phrase that I find that I use it all the time.

So, take care, y'all!
Good morning, all! And hello Aussie Kitty – is it Wendy?

I'd like a cup of tea, Earl Grey, hot, please!

And I'm pleased to see the comp entries rolling in, especially glad that Sara got hers finished and submitted! Haven't read it yet, but looking forward to it!

So far, the entries are remarkably good. Of course, this is the first competition I've entered here, but the quality seems high – maybe lower quantity means that quality has been concentrated?
Well, there goes my chance of finishing a competition in the Top 10! There are now 11 entries in the "Survivor" competition…

Good morning. I visited Stonehenge just a couple years ago but there was neither Verity nor dancing happening. Must have gone on an off day.

I see a mysterious polar bear has wandered into the competition. Hope he drops by to introduce himself though he seems vaguely familiar, eh.

Coffee is on and kettle is boiling. I'm settling in for a rather quintessential Southern Ontario Summer day (high of 30C, humid, chance of evening showers).

Good afternoon, Oh Glorious Leader! Your fame spreads far beyond this humble space.

So – yes, I am, indeed a polar bear – and with respect, Rumple-deWriter, the fur is pure white, not off-white – I just washed it in the Arctic Ocean, off Iqaluit, in Nunavut, thank you very much!

Ladies and gentlemen of Stories Space, please allow me to introduce myself. I am James Polar Bear, a bear of very little brain, but enormous heart. I love people – usually medium rare (kidding – that's a little bear humour, you know) – and am eager to offer bear hugs to any and all comers!

I note, looking around some people that look kinda familiar, but please assume that I'm just ignorant. You won't be far off!

I love words. I love reading them, I love writing them, and I adore those who wield them with aplomb. Or panache. Or both.

I look forward to reading some of the great storytellers here, and hope to contribute my own little bagatelles from time to time.

If I inadvertantly give offence, please forgive me. I'm finding the ways of humans to be…strange. Bears are much easier.

So, hi!
