Are You Here

How a true friend always walks beside and supports a friend.

Are you here, I ask?
As I face a daunting task.

You always answer, yes.
I am here, what do you need?

I tell you I am struggling.
You urge me to carry on.

I tell you, I am afraid.
You place your hand in mine.

I say, I am going to tumble.
You always, prop me up.

I tell you, I don't know if I can.
You say, I know you will.

I know, I am not always liked,
I always feel your love.

You never let me walk alone.
You are a true friend.

You know my best, my worst.
Never throwing me to the wolves.

You still choose to walk with me,
until my fears are vanquished.

You never make me feel weak.
You always point out the path.

Never trying to lead the way,
only guiding me, back on task.
