Author's Notes

"To Andrea, my sister from another mister."

Has it been twenty years?
It doesn't seem that long.
Since we got tattoos in Blackpool
and danced to Rosie Gaines songs.

Rollercoasters, bumper cars,
it's all a little hazy.
Do you look back as I do,
and think our teenage years were crazy?

Nights at Cafe de Paris,
meals at Pizza Pomodoro.
Elvis singing his heart out,
to my shaking head and eye roll.

Taxi cabs for takeout,
too much wine to drive.
Watching Desperado,
tears of laughter in our eyes.

A child is born,
and it's a boy.
I'm holding your hand,
and sharing the joy.

Friendships fade,
it happens with time.
Not us though,
we're like a fine wine.

We may have missed,
some pain and sorrow.
But, we still have today,
and we still have tomorrow.

I always think fondly,
of our past, and our fun.
I look forward to our future,
and what's yet to come.

Movie nights, and spa days,
Pilates and exercise bikes.
I'll text you from the Volcano,
in Scotland that we'll hike.

Twenty years is nothing;
we should be all the rage.
For people seeking friendships,
like fine wines that improve with age.
