Get me to the Church on Time

The Marriage of Prince William to Kate Middleton

Get me to the Church on time

(Prompted by the Royal Marriage of Prince William to Kate Middleton)

Just out from the workshop and patched up a treat,

the old Rolls Royce pulled up at Kate’s feet.

The bridesmaids, angelic in their fairytale dresses,

tucked up Kate’s train and gathered her tresses;

With great care the valet opened the door,

but with great horror it fell to the floor.

The brides father Michael searched deep in his pockets,

and pulled out some spanners and a full set of sockets.

The door was then lifted and put into place,

the bolts were retightened at a breathtaking pace.

Michael offered a hand to his beautiful daughter,

then boarded the troubled wedding transporter.

The procession set off, ‘The Mall’ was in sight,

the car banged and groaned, what next was their plight?

It came to a standstill at the side of the road,

Michael jumped out, then to the rear of the car strode.

“A bump-starts required I’ll push and you steer,

you’ll find it an advantage, if you select second gear.”

With a great deal of shoving the engine then roared,

the crowd cheered, waved flags and began to applaud.

Prince William had landed in Parliament Square,

his helicopter now parked on Red Route thoroughfare,

a clamp was attached, parking ticked applied,

with a big yellow tow-truck parked right alongside.

He looked at his watch, it was getting quite late,

the Archbishop of Canterbury was becoming irate.

Then up went a roar, a great cheer of the crowd,

Prince William stood tall, feeling so proud,

his beautiful bride was at the top of the isle,

in a heavenly dress with a dazzling white smile.

She glided toward him with father on arm,

the crowd became silent, the atmosphere calm,

vows were then taken, the exchanging of rings,

church-bells began ringing magical dings.

A true love story, close to the heart;

May your love be eternal, till death do you part.
