My Queen, My Love

Rejoice my life, this day we shall be free;
The battle for our land will soon be here.
So smile my Queen, my soul of destiny;
Your loyal Knight of Love is ever near.

The war is fought with honor into night,
And you have led us onward to our fate.
Fear not dear one, my soul, my purest light,
Our future will be found beyond the gate.

We struggle to defeat the evil threat,
All fear that you may fall ere day is done.
But you are ever paying freedom's debt,
For you are all our souls resolved in one.

If we know not what fortune will play out,
Our lives are ever yours, without a doubt.

***

My Queen, we may be weary, combat worn,
But still we strive, for shackles must be lost.
The governance of tyrants shall be shorn
No matter what the price, the final cost.

Each man will fight and give his very best
For we, your people, love this motherland,
So never doubt that all might pass the test;
Beside you every knight completes his stand.

But wait, what is this dreadful sight we see,
That oozes to the front and seeks our Queen.
Tis nemesis reborn, and none will flee,
Though truly hubris never has been seen.

Twas not our pride that led us to this place,
But mayhap cruelty grows within our space.

Her sword is thrusting, striving to fight on,
No matter what her wounds she falters not.
The fallen mound about her until dawn,
'Til only we still stand upon this spot.

My Queen, my Lady, yes, my dearest love;
We struggle, just we two, the die is cast.
The sun of glory shines from up above,
Your Knight, your King, is with you, first and last.

We fall, but all the foe is vanquished now;
My trembling head is cradled on her thigh.
Her hand is gentle, stroking my damp brow;
My heart does falter, and she gives a sigh.

My Queen, my love, my soul, my dearest wife,
Be great, fulfill our dreams and live your life.
