My Stepdaughter

she was just 16 when we first met

Although I never got to give you life
I will love you for all my life
I never got to see your first smile
But your smile brightens my world

I never seen you take your first step
But you stepped into my life to stay
I wasn’t there for your first day at school
But you have taught me what love is all about

You were barely sixteen when we first met
We talked and became fast friends
You welcomed me into your home and life
How much better could my life get

No I never gave you life
But I couldn’t love you more if I had
You are the center of my universe
And I wouldn’t want it any other way

I love you to death my darling girl
