I saw the light born and reborn this morning.

From dark sea and dim horizon came a holy glow,
A signal that night's rule was ending;
A first, tentative announcement that light and life would indeed return from the underworld.

That first dim glow grew brighter, and my heart quickened,
Delighting in the light, celebrating the warmth and brightness that soon would be.

Then it happened.
In an instant, the edge of the Sun,
The tip of the head of the infant bringer of Light,
Emerged from the dark, watery womb.

Now it came quickly.
The beautiful orb of fire that warms the Earth,
That energizes all that is alive,
Raced upwards from waters that now shone and danced in joy at the coming of Light,
Seeking its place above me,
Its palace in the heavens
From which it rains down its energy upon the Earth;
From which it generously gives us gifts
Of light,
Of heat,
Of beauty,
Of life.

This too shall pass.
For each day is a brief, finite moment of existence.
Like all things, the Sun shall fade and descend into the darkness.

But it shall rise again with the next dawn.
It shall burst forth once more.
Renewed and energized,
The Sun shall again bring the light,
The Holy, Beautiful Light,
That is the source of life and being.
