Recollections

On the road moving at a hurried pace,
Big blade mounted on the front.
Peering into the dark, smile on my face.
Tires gripping hard, with a grunt.

From the sky fluffy flakes,
Gently floating all around.
Possibly without any breaks,
Finally settling on the ground.

Diamonds sparkling on night air,
Moving quickly no time to waste.
Before me into the night I stare,
Pleasure for my mind to taste.

Clearing roads of newly fallen snow,
Hands on the controls moving fast,
Commuters then their cars can go.
Time, I do not have, to be aghast.

Work I have always enjoyed,
Keeping many highways clear.
An era when I was employed,
Doing duties without any fear.

Storms soon will be passed,
Work needing finished.
Long hours always amassed,
Hazards being diminished.

Moving safely unabashed,
Seeing my job complete.
Not a traveler has crashed,
Never did I miss a beat.

Retired now, nowhere to go,
Inside, warm, not in a bind.
Sitting watching flakes blow,
New things to sate my mind.

Writing, so I can share,
Recollections I amass.
A story from my chair,
While sitting on my ass.
