Regretted But Renewed?

It always seems to be the way
You try too hard and lose the day.

She asks so little from you now
Perhaps she has forgotten how.

A loss, a hurt, an ache she shared
But you were slow to show you cared.

Away, she goes away to think
And leaves your friendship on the brink.

This is not love, but much, much more
And barely has it shown before.

Sweet dear she is, a part of you
You must attempt to start anew.

Reach out with earnest pleas again
That things can be as they have been.

You have so few who really care
Don't let her leave your cupboard bare.

If you will just apologize
Her gaze will smile with gleaming eyes.

So simple is the remedy
But always works to set souls free.

And in the end you will have found
Your friendship is forever sound.
