Seeking Solace

Where can my heart go to break?

To lose this pain that I cannot shake,

You ran right through it with a stake

And left me with this numbing ache.

Where can my heart go to bleed?

To rid myself of this addictive need

The love and hope that your words would feed

And to kill the dreams you had guaranteed.

Where shall my soul go to die?

Is there somewhere above the sky?

I hope it is warm and soft and dry

And that it will comfort me whilst I cry.

Where can I go to rid the pain?

That pulses through me, deep in my veins

I wish I could wash it away with the rain

And remove the padlock that holds your chain

Where can I go that I fear not to tread?

A place of healing, a place without dread

A place where my wings I can once again spread

And rise up from the ashes, my broken heart shed

Where can I find such a place to retreat?

To make me once again feel complete

to rid me of this pain caused by your deceit

and make my heart, with happiness, beat.
