Darkness and shadows build walls around me,
Easing the void of aching cold
Into the black, still oil of loneliness.

Screeching demons claw at my hair,
Ribboning layers of scalp
To the broken brain and juice within.

Slobbering maws tear at the bloody mess
That has been my heart,
And still the pathetic mass
Tries to tremble a beat of life,
A flutter and squelch of
Ugly pain,
An agony of needing love
That scours lost souls
From the stars
And raises them up in dreadful awe.

But this pulp is lost in
Stinking fear and
Splatters its intentions on walls of shadow.

A bottle of pills
Could only plunge me from one
Hell into another.

No breaking of sunlight for this
Dying pile of offal,
No shining star of comfort in the sky.

"Cheer up," they say.

Let me slip away
And be lost forever in oblivion,
As if I were never here.
