Messenging is not working for me either. I did discover you can set yourself to invisible now. Online, chatty, away, busy and invisible are the choices It's a circle at the top of messenger down in the right-hand corner. The chatty option made me laugh.

Some things that have gotten fixed (at least for me):

  • My comment replies to my stories (pre-porting) have reappeared. This is good news as I can only imagine the poo-storm this would cause if those replies weren't retrievable on the other site.
  • Privacy settings (the ones with the check box) have remained as I left them.

Some things I'd appreciate getting looked at. A lot isn't the highest priority, but since there's a thread now where all the asks and bugs are being centralized, I've decided to try and list things out. It's pretty long, so be warned.

Profile:

  • Will old Wall( Friends' Comments) posts be retrievable like the comment replies and eventually reinstated? Although I'm not a huge wall posting person, some people really like to look back on them.
  • On the same Friends' Comments note, will there be a way to delete posts you don't want. This may be more applicable on the other site, but sometimes people post something that the receiver dislikes, and the owner of the profile being posted on having the ability to delete wall posts from others on their profile page would be a feature I'd like to see reinstated eventually.
  • I'd appreciate if "Last Online" could be manually deactivated. It's visible on both edit and non-edit mode. I know before the port, the last day of visit was visible, and the specific login time (how many minutes/hours ago) was optional(able to be turned off in privacy settings). The last visit day is also something premium members on the other site have the option of hiding completely so if this is something that can be tiered as before with the 'login time' able to be disabled, but the last day of visit being something only premium members can disable from being viewable would be another feature I'd like to see, if not here, then on the Red site.
  • Currently, at the bottom of my profile there is a "Forums Posts" link, but it only links to the forums and is not a history of my forum posts on here.
  • I'm not sure what the "Site Invite" button does, but I know I ain't ever sending in picture verification. silly
  • I think I'll keep my unearned Editors Pick. Thank you all for the award. The rest of my badges look accurate. I didn't have a lot to begin with so other users who have been active longer would do better at noting any differences.
  • The gender seems to be embedded even if I try to leave it blank. Is there a way for this to not be necessary or fill in the blank? On that note, is it necessary to denote each user by a colored figure next to their username on their profile and in comments? Personally, I would prefer if I could just turn all of that off if that's a possibility down the line. I have it as a blank in 'edit mode' but it shows 'female' in the profile users see. I haven't tried making a new account here, but is gender something that is still a requirement to be a member?
  • Although less necessary on this site, video galleries (which were youtube links) and video uploads (which were mp4 files uploaded to the site from the user) would be great to have back at some point. I see photo albums are already something that can be made.
  • Customizable privacy would be nice too so instead of public or private(where only the user can see it), friends, then specific individuals from the friend's list selected for a semi-private option would be great. I know this along with most of what I've written are less priority and will take time to implement.

    Stories:
  • Will there be a way eventually for members to reorder their stories in the way they want them to be presented on their profile? I believe on the other site, a lot of people enjoy being able to show stories by category too so users can quickly find something to their liking.
  • I've just 'submitted' some unedited grammatical nightmare as a test to see what I could do. There's no 'save draft' button for me (Mac OS), just submit. After submitting, there's a big delete button under the story. This could get abused or accidentally clicked a lot (the delete button) which would lead to lots of lost work.
  • Before, stories could be edited and saved as a draft however many times as needed before submitting.
  • As others noted, having a preview for stories before publishing is helpful both to make sure the formatting came out ok, and to catch any last errors (assuming one will still be able to go back to the currently nonexistent (at least on my computer) edit area for new stories that have yet to be published.
  • I'm going to wait for my story to be rejected to see if it shows in the unpublished area of my stories, and then see what I can do to edit it.
  • Oh, and I can comment on my unpublished story lol.
  • I've tried to reply to my own comment on my unverified story and it just loaded forever so that might not be possible to comment on your own comments. I'm not sure how it's set up.
  • And I've just discovered I can add photos from my media into my comment. This might be a baaaad idea for the other site. I'm imagining the types of pictures certain users may be subject to, and also the images all the readers who go through the comments will potentially see.

    Messaging:
  • Like others, I am put to online every time I go to a different page in the IM. However, I still have yet to talk to anyone using it as it keeps showing blank, I think other users have pointed out that the IM function needs some work to be functional.
  • I've already detailed my opinions on the necessity of having both a chatbox/IM and black boxes(online messages) as options for real-time chats. in the other related forum thread here as well as in a PM.
  • There is no forward option for PMs. This would be appreciated if it could be implemented at some point.

    Friends:
  • This sort of relates to messaging. If there is a way to order your friends list in the future, that would be a function many users will appreciate as it exists still on the red.
  • Greenboxing (selecting specific friends to appear online or away to regardless of if you're invisible when you're logged in) is another function I'd like to see re-implemented. If not on here, then at least over there.

    Forums:
  • A new set of emoji hotkeys and a user guide at some point will help people get used to it faster.
  • I've bulleted each point here. If the bullet points disappear and make this a wall of text, then I'd appreciate that getting looked into as well.
  • Overall the forums are my favorite upgrade. Super easy to use and format text. Easy to see a list of all the most recently active threads along with threads that haven't gotten a reply.

Update: I've just noticed, when I reopen Stories Space on my computer (Mac Os), the messenger (other than not being functional at the moment) doesn't show my online status, and the drop-down box where one changes that isn't visible. I have it set to keep me logged in on my computer so I'm not logging out then logging in I'm not sure why it does this. I haven't confirmed if the same thing happens on my phone.

Update: An admin kindly rejected my story so I could look at it. It shows up with the rest of my published stories with a note above it saying it's been rejected. There is an edit button, but like before, there is no way to save a draft, only the submit button. My 'Unpublished Stories' remains empty.

I didn't have any drafts saved here before so I can't comment on their status.

  • Forums:
  • I've bulleted each point here. If the bullet points disappear and make this a wall of text, then I'd appreciate that getting looked into as well.
Update: The bullet points didn't show up lol.

Also for formatting, the text editing (bold, italic, etc) seems to be treated as part of the body rather than a sort of toolbar, and disappears along with other text further up when I have something lengthy like now, which makes it impossible to change things further down as it makes me scroll up which then puts the text I want to edit out of reach.

bold itialic underline > Me seeing if basic HTML translates without using the toolbar (maybe I should use '<>' instead of '[]'? I'm not really a techie.)

Quoting is definitely easier. smile

Overall I love the look and feel of the story presentations, it is crisp and clean and commenting is a breeze. My comments on comments on my stories have returned which is great. Except for the ones I made after this went live which have now disappeared. The forums look great and its easy to see and access the most recent. I adore the signature block now.

There are some things from the past that I have used a lot and aren't yet part of this version. They may not be mission critical, but are things I would like to see included both here and (maybe more so) on the other site.

When opening up either site, the first thing I look for is what BB messages I have received (and usually answer immediately) and what new stories have been published. At the moment here I see six new stories and an empty IM box. Though I am one click away from the first of 726 pages which lists the latest 15 stories.  The BB function has been important to me for the reasons Violet has explained, particularly as my friends' time zones mean they are often most active when I am asleep or working, so I won't labour that point.

The next thing I do is look at my timeline to see new comments on my stories and posts on my page. And then I click the friends activity button to see what they have been up to. Seeing what stories my friends have read is a major driver of my short term reading list. The I read PM's and decide what to do next 😊

So some of that I can do, and some I am not sure I can do, at least not yet. Other things I value. Being able to green-box certain friends. I am often online invisibly, reading and commenting on stories but I do like being able to be disturbed by a select handful. Also, ordering my friends so that those I interact with most are near the top of my friend list. Not a drama here, but will be on the other site. And last, being able to select who sees my pics, I mean at an individual friend level.

I always load and save stories before submitting. Gives me a chance to read through the story in the format it will appear online and do a final edit. And also if I am honest because system stability has meant I have lost things and have had to start again with the submission process.

I do like being able to order my stories on the profile page, so a some of what I see as my best stories are immediately visible to someone looking at my profile.

Two things that happened unexpected for me in the transition were the images in my hidden gallery ending up in my public gallery, not a drama here but would be elsewhere. Though I think I will likely save all my elsewhere pics to my hard drive for that transition.

And secondly I have both published and unpublished writing stored on My Stories on both sites. I seem to have lost the unpublished in the transition. Only two, one of which doesn't matter, but the other a poem was my only copy.  Again I will save these unpublished things before transition elsewhere.

Personally I am not too worried if everyone knows when I was last on or that I live in Sydney (Australia and not Canada,) but I know users who will be very concerned about this on the other site. Some have the information they share at very low levels, even with friends and will be looking for that to continue. There will be others who also use the chat rooms a lot who will have views on them, not places I nowadays go to.

Well done, this is a major transition and looks really good so far.

Good morning. At the risk of appearing lazy, I do miss the notifications of new comments on my stories. I always love to read comments and of course, reply.

At the moment I have to check every one of my stories to see if a comment has been made. I'm constantly checking because I would hate to think that someone was kind enough to make a comment and for them to think I couldn't be bothered to reply. I hope that makes sense. Thank you

Hi Annie, if you look at the list of your stories, you should see, at the right side, a button marked Unpublished. Normally, your saved drafts are there. I just checked on my own stories list and my drafts are found there.

I checked your profile and all your Media is in a private album, that issue was solved the other day, unless in your case it hasn't worked!
Hope this helps.

Oh thanks you are right, my poem that I thought had been lost is in fact there. Thanks so much, my bad for not being observant.

Yes, I moved my media to the private album subsequent to the change over. Not that it mattered to me that those particular pics were public, it was more a nervousness that this get fixed for the next change over. I am thrilled that it has been.

If one of the issues is your age showing, please check your PMs. It is NOT visible. I have checked this morning. And your images save a couple are all in Private now and cannot be accessed (again, checked this morning), which was another issue you raised. Not sure what else there is.

Can someone just manually delete my account??

There are STILL some of my stories missing from my list, even though I can track them down by doing a tedious search using category and title.

Strange. Are they really old ones or something? I know mine are all there but I only started writing here 5 years ago and most of mine date to the past two.

Oh, I did just find a place where age shows up (belated apologies to GodsAngel). If you hover over a username in the My Friends list, the pop-up shows age. Please remove it or give us control over it so we can decide if it shows. There's no point to making the birthdate on our profiles private but then revealing our age in the profile preview. Same pop-up also shows if you hover over a username in your Inbox but I assume it's calling the same window so fixing it in one will fix all.

There does not seem to be a list of the badges available to be awarded. The badges that appear on my profile are not accurate. I had 28 last week. I have 16 today. Two of those I did not have before. I cannot seem to find a list.

My badges look okay but I don't have an actual pre-upgrade count to check against so I'm can't say that's 100% sure. I have all my comp badges for sure, though.

More of a question than an issue:

Is there a way to send a PM to multiple addresses? When I select a second address, it overwrites the first one. I guess this prevents "spamming" but there are times when it is legit to "cc" another user or two.

Is the ability to have copyright statement automatically added going to return at some point? Or should we start putting a manual one in the Author's note or something like that? Just realized today there's no copyright statement on any of the stories.

I agree with both of these. I have lost around eleven badges and there is no copyright statement on my stories.

Hello!  Ophelia Tusk here.

I am very new to Stories Space signed up like a week or so ago? I have poked around to see the new changes, it looks pretty interesting, my only issue, however, is that it is way too Facebook-y.   It looks like a clone of Facebook and that is very off-putting for me.  and very, very disconcerting.  Even if you change the colors from their Blue and White.  It looks like FB  and  I would like it to NOT look like Facebook.  I, and  I am sure many other people out there have weird feels and associations when it comes to certain hubs and sites for social media.  Also, when I write and talk with other writers, I would like to not mistake this site for FB and vice versa.  I am also not sure how I feel about the little gender icon thing that has a color code?  Do the colors have a purpose?  Can we choose our own icons like if you want to be a green triangle or a  yellow rhombus etc. and have it be individualized and not classically gender-coded with pink for girls and blue for boys and misc color for other gender identities? Just let us choose as an option, maybe?

So, I had like 220-something notifications this morning, of which only a few actually showed up in the notifications when I clicked the "bell". After clearing the ones that were there, the "bell" now shows 214 notifications, but then it says No Notifications when I click it to get the list. Sounds like something messed up with notifications?

EDIT: I got a new notification which then allowed me to clear a few more, so I am down to 204. But why can I not access and clear all of them now?

Oh, and can we please, please have the ability turn off the option to automatically Watch a thread when we post in it. I have been on a board before where it was on automatically and it just generates way too many notifications (probably part of the reason for me having so many notifications above). I prefer to turn Watch "on" when I need it rather than having to remember to turn it off every time I post in a thread that I don't want to monitor.

Yeah, when I first opened the new site my first thought was also, Facebook???

I'd like to choose the invisibility cloak for my gender. Actually, something I recently noticed about that. In Profile edit mode, you can choose for it to be blank(and it shows as a blank in edit mode), but it still shows at whatever you chose when you created your account. It was only female and male before so I show up as 'female'. I feel pretty strongly on personal information being opt-in for everything and also giving users the ability to label themselves (or not) as they choose.

The blue and pink remind me of a baby shower in not the best way lol. (ke) ... does that hotkey still work?

I found some weird buggy stuff today/the other day. They have to do with accepting friend requests on mobile, and the notification bell.

I'll start with the friend request. I recently got one from someone I know. I was on my phone (iPhone 7 iOS 13.7 Safari), and I got a popup box with my about-to-be friend's name, avatar and the 'Accept' 'Decline' prompt. I pressed the accept button once giving me another notification pop-up, but the original pop-up didn't close automatically, and I ended up pushing the 'Accept' button a few times before finding the 'X' in the corner and closing it.

Fat fingers, what can I say?

Immediately upon accepting, I got a notification that I had to manually delete from the notification bell's drop down box (get to that later).

Then it got a little weird, in my settings toolbar (the links that show in the drop-down box when I click my avatar) showed '-2' in red next to my friends. Yes, negative. I checked, and my friends list hasn't changed. Actually, it was plus 1 (at the time I accepted that request on my phone).

I have screenshots for all of these things. At the moment, I'm unable to upload directly from my computer to here so I've put them in a public album on my profile. Although, it says I can link the images. Like from imgur or another site? I'm not a member on there so I probably won't be able to test that feature.

Also, the UI for adding images to albums could use some clarification down the line. I wasn't sure what album I was uploading the images to until I refreshed the page. I can't see what album is selected. My newest album is showing 3 pictures when there are 4 - about to be 5 after I screenshot and add to the end of this post. (still shows as 3 in edit mode despite showing all the screenshots)

However, earlier today, I got another friend request I didn't see until I went to my friends list and saw it as the notification bell has gone a little off the rails lol. This time I was on my laptop (Same Mac Os from before, using Firefox) and did not run into the above negative friend notification. I do hope you don't get a notification when someone unfriends you. Many people have reasons to quietly unfriend a person like harassment or other icky things so going in silence long enough to take other action would be ideal.

As an aside, for the forum, the toolbar that isn't yet functioning as a toolbar could use with tags that show up when you wave your mouse over them, but that's probably the last thing to worry about at the moment.

Now for the toolbar. I opened Stories Space on my computer and was greeted with 166 notifications. My first reaction was, What the heck? But a stronger word in place of 'heck'. When I clicked the notification bell, I immediately noticed notifications from Mendalla and Anna (both lovely people, I'm sure)not currently on my friends list. Actually, I think I have all of the recent SS activity in my notifications bell right now... from every user lol. I'd sift through all 166 of them, but I have to manually delete each one - one at a time - and there are only 10 that show up at once.

My most recent friend request was probably buried in there. I didn't get a popup (I'm assuming because I wasn't on stories space at the time of receiving it like the first one).

If that isn't enough reason to consider returning to a timeline and friends activity that are separate and can be opened in their own windows outside of a notification bell, then I don't know what is.

(About to submit... only three images I selected loaded. Might have to do with the album bug. Can others see all five screenshots in the album I've created on my profile?)

Okay, so if I use Clear All instead of clearing them one at a time, then I can step through them in batches of 10. So my bell is now cleaned up. Still, if one is going through them one at a time, it should not be stopping you at 10 and making you wait.

EDIT: I got a new notification which then allowed me to clear a few more, so I am down to 204. But why can I not access and clear all of them now?

Okay, so if I use Clear All instead of clearing them one at a time, then I can step through them in batches of 10. So my bell is now cleaned up. Still, if one is going through them one at a time, it should not be stopping you at 10 and making you wait.
But there could be important notifications buried in the forum madness, or even when that gets fixed, sandwiched between friend activity so 'clear all' might not be a practical solution, and agree about it stopping at 10 being tedious.

One thing that would help with the Watched threads would be the ability to get a list of Watched Threads similar to the My Posts and New Posts lists. The software I use on the site I run has this and it's a great way to check and audit your watches.

Update on my photos. Outside of edit mode, I don't see the separate albums. I had an image gallery of public photos before which have disappeared from my profile and are now just the 5 screenshots I had. They do not appear to be in an album outside of edit mode.

Agreed, which is why not being able to go through it one at a time is a problem. If they get the Watch thing fixed, my list at least should never be that long ever again. Now that I've got it cleaned out and am cleaning up my Watched threads, mine should be a lot smaller. Really, though, we should be able to control what notifications even go in there. Again, something the software I use on my own site allows on a very fine-grained level.
