The Wedding was great. One of my nephews is a preacher in our church, and he led a beautiful and inspiring ceremony. I was happier than I have been in a decade.

You can't get there from here, because when you get there you're still here and here is now there.

Oo, a minister in the family. We had one when I was a kid. My grandfather was a minister in the United Church of Canada. None of followed him in that calling though. I probably came closest and while I do have a lasting interest in theology and liturgy, just didn't feel I could do the counselling and support part of ministry. My nephew's father-in-law is a pastor in the Missionary Alliance but they had the youth pastor (a friend of theirs) be the officiant for their wedding so the father of the bride just had to lead a prayer.

Glad it went well. I haven't been to a wedding in a while. My cousin's son had a nice young lady with him at my aunt's funeral so maybe I'll get the chance eventually.

Sonja did not have a cat. So why was this one making itself at home in her house?

I’m working on a cover for a book of my scribbles for my son and my sister. I tried to incorporate some things from my stories. Here’s a couple I’m thinking about…

I kind of lean to the first one but couldn't say why. As Roland said, both look nice.

I like the first one, WG. It seems more vibrant to me.

Thank you, everybody, for your kind words. I am grateful that my parents saved for my father's eventual care needs. It is a very good place. It's part of their retirement community. They have independent living, assisted living, a skilled nursing facility, and the REM (reminiscence) unit, all on the same beautiful campus. The Army Foundation initially built it, and you had to be a member of the armed forces or have worked for the government to live there. So all the people have something in common. It's costly, but you do get what you pay for. For now, my father's long-term private insurance is covering the costs. Later, we'll have to dip into his investments. However, they offer activities for everyone at every level, conduct field trips for those still capable, and the staff is terrific. I have spent enough time there to see that. He has his own room, and we were able to bring his furniture, so it all feels familiar to him. I even receive daily pictures and updates on what he's doing that day and the activities he's participating in. Which is great because he always tells me there's nothing to do, and he's bored. It's strangely like getting updates on your child in daycare or preschool.

That's enough for today, lol. I'm going to enjoy seeing my son this weekend. I'm baking him some goodies to take down. First up: dark chocolate, potato chip cookies, then a Ube cheesecake with a white chocolate ganache.

Have a great weekend, everyone. Cheers!

I like the first one too.

They are both beautiful, but I love the second one. It's the cat staring directly at you for me. It's like it has secrets and wants you to open the book to find out what they are.

I met my new 'Shrink' yesterday. She seems OK, but she will only be doing my meds. I can hardly wait to get my new therapist. I see how useful my sessions are after missing them for six months.

I have some candy corn if anyone wants some.

Don't tease, I love candy corn. I keep checking the stores for it. lol

The second book cover, WG. I like the letters a little smaller, so we are more taken by all the imagery. It seems a little lighter too. The cat on the head is key to both versions!

Broke out the grill finally! It's usually up and running my May, but it has been a BUSY summer.

Really proud of my Heaven's Gate story. I hope it gets picked up. If not I will post it here.

Roland, I've been in therapy for a decade and it really helps me on an everyday basis.

I deserve a cold beer for all my hard work today. I will settle for an ice water.

Whew! I just submitted a little memoir scribble for here. It was a cathartic write. I’m not even embarrassed by the things in it, thanks to my holistic healers. I thank my acupuncturist and Reiki healer for giving me relief from many things that have plagued me since I was a very young girl. smile Today is a good day!

Just a simple girl from Kentucky scribbling her way through this great big world.

I need a lot more therapy. I make some progress, and then I am right back where I started.

We had a good day at my son's, but came back early. They had a storm, and their power went out while we were working on the house. That wasn't too much of an issue because all the tools are battery-operated. It became an issue when we realized they have well water, and when the power is out, it can't pump water to the house. So, no flushing toilets or taking showers, and of course, no AC. My husband installed two storm doors for them, and they power-washed the garage.

They had to use some bottled water to "wash up" so they would be presentable for going out to dinner. We had a wonderful dinner and left afterward. We encountered some seriously severe thunderstorms on the way home. I was very pleased to get home safely. Even with all that, we had a good time and enjoyed seeing them happy in their first home.

I hope everyone has been having a good weekend.

Ugh. Been there, done that at our family cottage. Instead of well water, though, we're pumping water up from the lake into a treatment system. We didn't have showers there in my day, though. Just used the lake as a bathtub.
