Erase You

Feedback is welcome.

"Erase You" by Lydia Kiei Lynne
(C) 2010

You said, abandonment, there was no chance.
No chance of you leaving me,
Said our souls had been bound since we were infants.
But now I look around, and you're the one I don't see.

I want to erase you
From every part of me,
Every inch of marked skin,
Erasing what I thought was true.
Erasing what I used to see,
Erasing every trace of your sin.

Come back and find the girl
Who you let down, and continue
To abandon for the rest of the world.
But you'll find I've already erased you.

Erased you from every memory,
From the deepest caverns of my heart
The one you break when you leave,
The one I want to rip apart.
Erase you from my mind,
Erase you from my soul.
Erase the lies you hid behind
And try to keep myself whole.

Yet again I'm left alone,
No second thought, no second glance
No explanation, no good-byes, just left on my own.
I cut my puppet strings, you can no longer make me dance
And wait for your return.

So I'm erasing you, and what you made me feel.
But how can I erase the pain that reminds me that you were real?
