My Heart Belongs To You Too

Anniversary poem for my late husband.

I feel lost
I ache inside
It's our anniversary Friday
I was your bride

Such a wonderful day
I had a beautiful dress
We made our vows
Had our union blessed

After so many years
You finally got
Me to agree
To tie the knot

Made me your wife
Twas a simple affair
So special to us
With our family there

Together for almost
Half my life
But not even six years
As your wife

We didn't get that long
We should have tried harder
At being together
And a mother and father

I always loved you
No matter what
I think sometimes
We just forgot

Did you stay that long
So I would know
That you wanted to stay
But had to go?

Kept your heart beating
When they said it would stop
So I knew it was mine
So I never forgot

I heard you my love
I wish we'd had longer
Worked at things harder
Made each other stronger

I'll cherish each day
I had with you
My husband, my love
My heart belongs to you too.
