When one is different dislike will come out,
The stares, the sneers, the smirks, the frowns, the shouts.
When one is different heartache will come out,
The hurts, the stings, the stabs, the pangs, the doubts.

How long will it take for humans to learn
Tolerance, acceptance, love for others.
How long will it take for haters to spurn
The teachings of those they see as brothers.

If someone instructs you to hate and fear,
Always have care, you are being mislead.
If someone instructs you to loathe and jeer,
Always know this, they are into your head.

Follow examples of courage and nerve,
Never go down the path of regretting.
Follow examples of honor, and serve,
Never go down the path of abetting.

If only our dogs could teach the shouters
Tolerance, acceptance, love for us all.
If only our hearts could reach the doubters
That their beautiful souls outshine us all.

I am a sinner, I have sinned it's true.
I am a winner, I'll win when I'm through.
You are a sinner, you have sinned it's true.
You are a winner, you'll win someday, too.

So can we just let people live their dreams
Without the hateful, petty, ruthlessness?
And can we just let people plan their schemes
Of loving friendships, of hope and of bliss?
