Trust Me

Hello little one

Your timid I see

Do not fear me

Wait, stay and see

My slow movements

As I crouch before you

Show my intention

Is not to hurt you

Big brown eyes wide

Take in every detail

Little wet nose sniffs

As soft white paws

Inch closer slowly

Trust me, I say

I promise it will be OK

I know you are small

And the world is big

But I am here for you

Come here to me

And you will never

Be left in the dark again

I hold out my hand

Your rough tongue

Licks it gently

I pat your small head

As you begin to see

You are safe with me

I lower myself to sit

You shy away

Don't worry little one

I am here to stay

Take your time

I will be right here

Soon you will learn

You will never be alone

Not ever again
