Been watching an odd little series on Youtube. It's made by Russian channel called ASM and it's basically an animated monster movie. Starts off as almost a parody, but later develops into a fairly good, if weird, kaiju (Japanese monsters like Godzilla) movie. It's called Godzilla vs. King Kong but really has no relationship to the classic Godzilla movie of that title or the upcoming American one other than having both Godzilla (multiple versions thereof) and King Kong.

A mighty warrior meets an unusual challenger. The Last Challenge of Jadek Prynn.

I just discovered a show called Deutschland 83. It has been around a couple of years, but I hadn't seen it. It is about a young, East German soldier who is recruited to become a spy for the KGB. He poses as a West German army officer who is the Aide to a high ranking West German officer involved with the placing of American Pershing II nuclear missiles in West Germany at the height of the cold war.
It is an excellent series, although if you don't like subtitles (German language), you may not like it.

Edit: And now, Deutschland '86. Excellent sequel.

If anyone wishes to find the beginning of this epic saga, here it is:

However, since this story is now available in paperback, only the first few chapters remain. Buy at:

I kept seeing previews for The Alienist Season 2, I'm not sure how I missed this one before, but I have just started Season 1.

Has anyone else watched it?

I watched the first season and I enjoyed it. I liked the main characters with all their flaws and the grittiness of the city scenes. I'm looking forward to the next season.

I’ve just started watching Hidden season two. It’s a crime drama filmed in North Wales not too far from where I grew up. It’s partly in Welsh (with subtitles) partly in English. I learned Welsh in school and I’m quite impressed at how many words I can still remember (but not enough to do away with the subtitles )

I rushed through it thinking the second season had already started. Now I'm sitting here anxiously waiting for the next one to start. Boo.

I really liked it. It has a Ripper Street vibe and that one was great. It lost some of it ooph for a bit, but I enjoyed it.

I'm currently in a show limbo.

I feel the same about A Discovery of Witches. Come on Sky, where is season 2?

I've been watching Season Two of Dirty John. It focuses on a true life crime story. This season is about Betty Broderick who killed her ex-husband and his new wife. It's more of a dramatization than a documentary. It's my guilty trashy watch for now.

I haven't started it yet but The New Perry Mason is on my DVR. It's on HBO. I loved the original so I am hoping it is good.

I have just watched a two-part mini-series on All4 (UK) called Frozen Sky from Germany.
It is set in 1967 and concerns a woman who's 6 year old son has behavioural problems.
The family live on a hop farm in a small Bavarian village near Munich.
The story is of the Mother's struggle to get a proper diagnosis of her son's condition which everyone around her believe is due to his poor upbringing and pure naughtiness.
In fact, the boy is Autistic, a condition which was little known back then.
I thoroughly recommend it as a truly absorbing story.

They keep saying it will air in 2020 but nothing further has been announced. I hate it when they do that.

I watched Dracula on Netflix. It was an original three-part series. I watched the first episode and then forgot about it. I recently went back and finished it. The second and third episodes are better. It's a bit different than other adaptations. I enjoyed it

I liked Ripper Street too. I watched the first two seasons of Whitechapel when it was on Netflix. I just found it again in Amazon Prime and Hulu. I think I'll rewatch it. I can't remember much about it.

I completely forgot about this show. I'll have to check it out.

While waiting for my other shows to start I've been deciding between rewatching Hannibal (I never watched the last two episodes) or finishing Orange is The New Black.

I've just started Season 2 of The Order on Netflix.

The writing is not always the strongest and there are a few plot holes, but it's still good. I mean, enjoyed the first season enough to watch the second.

I'm watching it as well. It's keeping my interest and I'm looking forward to the next two new episodes airing.

Today I've been watching Food Networks shows I've recorded. Guy's Grocery Games and Chopped.

I cannot believe that the season is almost done. It's too short.

At the moment it's Paranormal Caught on Camera. It's muted, but it's on.

One of the first things to go on my list when I got back on NF last week. Not sure when I will have time to watch it, but vampires are a bit of an obsession with me.

First priority is finish Castlevania season 2 and watch season 3, which came out while I was off Netflix. Also Dracula, but a very different one.

And I've been watching my way through Love Death + Robots, an anthology series on Netflix created by Tim Miller (director of the Deadpool movies) and executive produced by him and David Fincher. 5-20 minute animated shorts mostly based on s-f and fantasy short stories. Mostly good, can be gory and/or raunchy at times.

Currently watching For All Mankind on AppleTV. It's an alternate version of the space race in which the Soviets get to the moon first, Ted Kennedy ends up as president after Nixon, and Molly Cobb actually made it to the moon. Very enjoyable alternate history.

I haven't seen it yet (don't have Apple TV) but Scott Manley, a Scottish-American rocketry enthusiast I follow on Youtube was critiquing it of late. He likes it, but apparently there's some stuff, like a shuttle going to the moon, that doesn't quite tally with reality. He actually has a whole episode of his own channel discussing that one that I have not watched yet.

I think one of the things I enjoy most about the series is that it veers in a different direction from reality, even thought it intermixes real people and some real events with the imagination of the writers. But that's just me.

I am excited to start Ratched on Netflix. I love Sarah Paulson so I'm hoping it's good.

The last series I watched was Away also on Netflix. I really liked it.

I want to watch Ratched too. I have seen mixed reviews but they never sway me.

I am also going to start watching The Haunting of Bly Manor on Netflix. I enjoyed The Haunting of Hill House so I am hoping this one will be well done. It is based on Henry James, Turn of the Screw. Not sure if it will be very loosely referenced like Hill House or if they are doing a more faithful adaptation.

For now, I have been watching The Halloween Baking Championship on Food Network. It's easy viewing.

I finished watching The Haunting of Bly Manor. I enjoyed it and thought it was a good ghost story.

I also finished watching Away on Netflix. It's about a group of astronauts going to Mars. It deals with their families' lives going on while they are gone three years and all the drama of spaceflight and what can and will go wrong. It held my attention.

Now I'm trying to find what to watch next.

Now watching Season 3 of Riviera. Not as compelling as Season 1 but not bad. The backdrops of the French Riviera and Venice are stunning, however.

Discovered the UK archaeology series Time Team. It originally ran 1994-2014 but they are now posting full episodes on their Youtube channel. It features a team archaeologists and related experts doing three day digs to investigate various sites around the UK. The host is actor-comedian Tony Robinson (who I know mainly as various incarnations of Baldrick in Blackadder) who seems to have done a lot of history stuff during that time period. Archaeology was a possible path for me back when I did my degree in classics (two of my profs, a married couple, were working archaeologists in their research semesters) so I enjoy watching archaeologists in action. It's like a mystery, finding clues and following the trail, but without the violence.

After a long, dry spell... TV wise, tonight I have the new season of Curse of Oak Island and on Friday I am really looking forward to Season Two of A Discovery of Witches. WooHoo!
