Toxicity in this thread aside, I am honored and at a loss for words to see my story in the top spot. It was rather personal, and difficult at parts to write.

The overall quality in this comp was amazing, and I could envision many others up there in the top three. Hopefully I never have to be in the position to pass judgment. Serious congrats to those both in and out of the top 10.

It's also wonderful to see so many new authors here making a big splash with excellent writing like JLA (you should all read what else she has posted here if you haven't already), Ophelia, and Ceebees (sorry if I missed someone). I hope this is only the beginning of your writing here.

An anthology of stories from the competitions (with permissions from the authors) to be sold to help fund the site as long as the authors get to keep their copyright and republish/sell elsewhere if they wish simultaneously sounds fair for a not-for-profit free stories site. I hope this can be discussed more and I'm more than happy to allow my writings to be used. Excellent idea. smile

My apologies to anyone who felt left out. That wasn’t my intention, and I genuinely don’t think it was anyone else’s. Writing is hard, and people’s egos are understandably on the line.

The anthology sounds like a wonderful idea.

Teeth of the Sky - Myths and Monsters competition, first place

Fire and Ice - A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words competition, first place

Monster - Survivor competition, first place

I would like to congratulate all of the entrants. Writing is hard, writing well even more so. And you all did a splendid job with this theme. I applaud and thank all of you for having the courage to enter the competition. This site would be nothing without all of you, always remember that.

Well done Violet, JLA and Ceebees. You deserve to be applauded for your win.

And I would also like to thank Ping for generously donating his prize money from the last competition back to the site so we could run this one. Your love for Stories Space does not go unnoticed.

And cut the drama. This is a time to celebrate another awesome event at Stories Space, the first since the move. Let's not mar it with ugliness.

So true, writing is fun, a joy, a stress relief. There is nothing I enjoy more than see my friends write well (cue applause for for Violet, James and WriterGirl) and being introduced to new wonderful talent (cue applause for JLA and Ceebees and others too.)

And a special shout out to Ping, when I first started publishing around these two nooks of the net three years ago, he was one of my inspirations, a clever clever writer, generous with his advice and support. I love the thought that he has donated prize money to support this site, that is so the Ping I know. That feeling is part of the reason people like Violet and I are here every competition of late, to support a wonderful place that was close to going under.

This was a fabulous competition and in supporting the winner's stunning entry, no-one, certainly not me, nor I am sure Ping and Verbal intended anyone to feel left out. Getting on the podium is hard, I have only done it once and for the three that have this time, lets make a celebration of them and all that have entered.

An anthology? Excellent idea. I've never had a story in one of those. And for the proceeds to go towards the 'friendly' Storiesspace' is doubly pleasing.

Concluding chapter (16) of THE HIGH AND THE HUMBLE in situ.

Yeesh, one sly remark and I seem to have started something. I don't actually have time to run with the anthology idea but if the site does, I will happily support it.

I will put together a thread on this idea over the weekend. I might can do it. I was published in a hardcopy last year after placing 3rd in a publisher's comp. Still have form we signed. We got to retain all rights, just gave editor permission to do light cleanups of stories with guarantee of no storyline change. Following their example, Violet's superb entry would take the lead, 2nd would be strong ending to the collection, 3rd would be centerstage in the middle and rest of us scattered in between. More to come in another thread. I think Spooky comp would be a good one too. Spooky sells too.

Go Writergirl! As I said, I will support and can probably help with some things, just don't have time to be spearheading it. Got plenty to do at work and only 7 business days left until I am off for my next eye surgery.

Wow. I really don't know what to say (but first I have to say thank you). Thank you so much for all the congratulatory messages and a big thank you to all the members behind the scenes who made this all possible!

I enjoyed all the entries, all the twists and takes on that magical wish. As the first competition I've joined on here, I couldn't have asked for a better one and I'm really glad that I managed to finish in time. This was really a pleasant surprise.

Congratulations to all the writers who made it into the top ten, your stories are marvelous and at times I wished there was more. Unfortunately, my mind was too fatigued so I probably failed to come up with a meaningful comment (I'll get to it soon though❤️).

Violet, your story was a magical wonder and very much deserves to be #1. Congratulations again, you're a rockstar.
