Good afternoon. Weather continues lovely here.
Larry, we have actually been talking about doing our kitchen for a while now. Maybe once COVID blows over. I also have to find a contractor. The guy who replaced the back door and kitchen floor a couple years ago passed away back in January. Lovely English guy with a the best work ethic I have ever seen in an independent general contractor. Found him through work. My company used him for renos at offices in the area.
Sonja did not have a cat. So why was this one making itself at home in her house?

I grew up in the marshland of Georgia, talking to the wildlife and the cypress trees. Often visited by spirits of the manatees
I would love to live on the beach and enjoy all those wonderful sea creatures.
I live in a typical suburban neighborhood hood I suppose, about a block from the Potomac River. It's an older one (my house was built in 1947) so there are mature trees surrounding everything. That lends itself to a large population of woodland creatures. deer, foxes, raccoons, rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, snakes, and assorted bugs.
My county has over a million residents and Northern Virginia had the highest COVID numbers in the state for a while. The tidewater region now has that dubious title. My county has had over 16,000 cases and about 530 deaths so far. Sadly after trending down numbers are slowly creeping back upward.
I haven't done any baking the last two days. I concentrated on cooking instead. Made homemade pasta that I've used for a Chinese noodle dish, lasagna, and today ravioli. My youngest son moved back home a few months ago and when he isn't working loves to cook. He and I had a great time making all that pasta.
I did make some more cherry limeade. I am obsessed with that drink. Leaving a pitcher on the counter while I sneak away with a cookie or two or three.
Cheers Everyone!
We're near a small valley containing a creek that has decent wildlife. I've even found evidence of beaver down there and there are coyote warnings up at some of the entrances. Up in the neighbourhood itself, though, we seem to mainly get the usual urban wildlife: Skunks, coons, squirrels, various bird species. Deer come up from the valley occasionally but it has been years since I've seen one in the neighbourhood. My only deer sighting this year so far was on a trail along another creek a few km from my house while biking.
Ever had a story that you simply couldn't come with a good title for? I have been wracking my brain for like three days to come up with a title for a new story (for here). At present, it just has the name of one of the characters as the title but that doesn't really fit since both are relatively the same in importance.

I'm lucky enough to live right by the sea. So, plenty of sea birds and marine life and, unpleasantly enough, huge amounts of jellyfish currently!
I must catch up with those comp entries!
I'll grab a lemon and ginger tea and some of Sara's splendid cookies.
My deepest condolences, Sara. Losing a parent is never easy, no matter how bad their condition. Been there, done that. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

I'm very sorry about your loss, Sara. I hope your mom is at peace and that you find the support of friends and loved ones.
Sarah, I am so sorry to hear your beloved mother has died. Please accept my most sincere condolences.
I hope in this terribly painful time that you, your family, and all those who knew and loved her can find solace and support from each other.
May she rest in everlasting peace, and that with time, the memory of her love for you brings you comfort.

Hi my SS family
Y'all have left me totally speechless.
(and y'all know how hard that is I'm usually a chatterbox)
I don't have the words to express how much your love and condolences mean to me. You have made this heartbreaking situation so much easier to navigate through I know the grieving is just beginning but y'all give me strength to get through it without too many tears. I don't even want to think about where I would be without your love and support. I have friends here in my town that have been my rocks
I will always be grateful for the love y'all have given. I'll update y'all on what's going on today's hard thing was signing the cremation form from the funeral home they had to email me the form the funeral director wouldn't move forward without both mine and my little sister's signature. They wanted my sister to do the verification of the body but she wasn't strong enough so my awesome rockstar brother in law stepped up and did it.
Yikes i have rumbled enough.
The cookie jars are in good shape and the adorable mascots have fresh water and treats.
Stay safe and remember it's OK to overuse I love you
Hmmm. Butterflies should go well with my afternoon tea.
Summer weather has returned to my part of the world. Stormy in the morning, then hot and muggy in the afternoon. Figured it was a bit early for September-ish weather.
Trying to figure out if I should go to the office on Tuesday. The VP wants a meeting to be in person but I might be able to go in just for that meeting. Minimizes my mask time. And my new computer might be ready by then so I could pick it up and bring it home to work on setting it up.
